Any thoughts on his playing from anyone who watched last night ?

He still has his chops no doubt about it. Lot of the things he played sounded like, well scales up and down.

Wankery...though not by far the worst I've seen on that show.

He is a smart guy and committed to music theory and practice... its a specific style that will appeal to some and not others. I don't really listen to this style but I admire the hard work it takes to get to that level.

Wankery is what I think TMS wants, just get up there and show off . No need to play a concerto .

He is so sound on his technique that it is almost unreal. I am not a fan but I really do have an appreciation for what he does. A lot of people do not remember that he was in a band called Holland. They were signed by Atlantic and did have some success. That is when I was a fan of Michael's playing, the combination of melody, riffs and timely shredding was incredible. Look them up....I think you will be surprised.

That was the perfect platform for him. He's a "look at what I can do" type of performer. Interesting to watch for a minute or two, but not going to be buying his cd's.

Seems like a nice dude and obviously he feels what he does with an earnest and endearing passion....but......that was pretty fucking painful....

I enjoyed it. He's ALWAYS played like that.

Nobody mentioned that fucking hack Jack Frost and his cameo?

anybody have a vid of this? I love watching his mindless shred, lol

THIS.

  When JAck Frost came out for the stump the Trunk, I was like

The guy is like a leech sticking to everything. Gotta almost give him credit though, he markets himself enough to almost hide his playing..
Sorry

I like MAB, and have a couple of his albums, but I rarely listen to him. Every now and then my IPod selects some random stuff and I listen to it, but I don't actively go looking for it. At least his ideas are cohesive. Some players start out with a great melody and then get lost somewhere in the solo and never pulls the melodies together.

Im a fan.his playing isnt for everybody.i like his solo stuff and covers he has done.

Glad "Nitro" didnt get a mention.

he played in two different directions whilst his vocalist broke glass

that is what music is all about :emofag:

:grim: :gay:

I thought he seemed like a really nice guy, and I bet he's cool to hang with -- but I was 0% interested in what he was playing.

Frost being there was perfect. I'll never forget first hearing about the Fuchs Frost sig amp. Had never heard of the guy so thought, if Fuchs made him an amp he must be pretty good, especially as Fuchs doesn't cater to a metal crowd. Then i found footage of him playing and resounded with a big WTF

MAB is a great guy. He loves sharing his technique and helping others get quicker. And he always rakes in quality tail. Just saying....

Probably one of the most gracious guitarists I have ever met.
