Mills acoustics 2x12

So somebody tell me about this cabinet. I have been thinking about mixing a sealed cabinet with my port city 2x12.

Everyone says great things about the Mills 4x12's but I have not heard much about the 2x12.

It's only 100 bux cheaper than the 4x12! (whats up with that anyway half the cab at almost the same price???)

I'm not gonna buy one to find out if I like it, too expensive for me to gamble right now.

Maybe due to its size?? It isnt that much smaller than their 4x12..
Or depending on how they space out their cuts with the plywood maybe there is more waste??
I don't feel like caculating 2x12,4x12 with sheets of plywood..

There is only a $79 price difference between an unloaded Mills and an unloaded PortCity cab.. and the Mills is deeper so more material is being used,
But I think the Portcity might be taller??
So

I see plenty of other brands out there that cost even more...
An explanation would be cool though...
I wonder if the guarantee Mills has includes unloaded cabinets????

I see him logged in on here every couple of days so I would think he will answer...

yeah I'm not really complaining about the price just wondering why so little cost difference out loud. it kinda makes me feel like I might as well get the 4x12 but I really only want a 2x12.

hmm the port cities are more money now. I got mine a few years back. and it is almost the same size as a marshall 4x12.

Have you played the 2x12?

No because I am coming out of a 6+ year break from all of this so I haven't played through any other cabinets recently besides my own and a few Marshall cabinets the guy that re-fretted my guitar owns..

But I agree with the 4x12 comment because I always thought that about 2x12 cabinets...
But I am interested in buying a new cabinet real soon..

From a cost perspective, there is little difference in producing an unloaded 212 vs. a 412. They have almost the same number of individual components and have the same assembly and finishing procedures. A 212 takes us about 1 hour less labor to build than a 412 and at the wholesale level, we spend about $40-50 less in materials than for an unloaded 412 cab. It's not size that makes a difference in costs...it's the number of pieces and how they are assembled that set the pace.

And yes, our 30 day return policy applies to unloaded cabs as well.

Just buy it and sit it next t your friends 4x12 at a jam session. When it looks better and sounds bigger, then you will forget how much you actually spent.

I had one of Davids 2x12 cabs in Orange and it was unbelievable, same tone as a 4x12 and I know everyone always says that but this time it was true. Ran it will my Soldano SLO and it sounded HUGE. You wont be disappointed!

thanks Brad I was really hoping to hear an opinion from someone who had actually played one. would you describe it as a bass heavy cabinet or would it be better described as "even" sounding.

what speakers were in yours?

Mine had vintage 30's and it was not woofy at all, very balanced and full. I was amazed how it kept up with my Bogner 4x12s and actually sounded much better than the stock Soldano 4x12 with the eminences in them. One of the best 2x12's I have heard and I have had them all.

Thanks a lot, Variable. For any builder of any product, you need to get feedback on what is good, and perhaps not so good with what you're putting out there. RT is a breath of fresh air, run by one of us...a Brother who eats, breathes and lives the quest for TONE. Brad deserves a lot of credit for creating such a cool little playground. Since this post has your attention.. I see you use Eminence speakers in your Bass Cab's..
Any thoughts or opinions on maybe using them in one of your Afterburner cabs???

Mine had vintage 30's and it was not woofy at all, very balanced and full. I was amazed how it kept up with my Bogner 4x12s and actually sounded much better than the stock Soldano 4x12 with the eminences in them. One of the best 2x12's I have heard and I have had them all.
