I rescued this ol girl from a cold, dark & depressing townhouse basement. Unused & craving to be abused.

It's 50w with some sort of power amp mod that I can't figure out. When set low it's quieter and darker with added low mids and as you turn it up is gets much louder, brighter and more open sounding. Right now I'm running it set low which allows me to raise the preamp volume for more saturation.
Both gain channels also appear to be tweaked for more gain.
Right now I'm just running my pedalboard through it with a boost and EQ pedal. Sounds mean and nasty this way.

Judging from your description and the hieroglyphics I´m thinking the mod is adjustable negative feedback.
You're probably right. I've never encountered one but seems to be exactly what happening when I move the dial.

Clips or didn't happen

j/k - looks beastly, curious on mod too

congrats D-Rock!

I played a Thermite modded 800 I really liked not too long ago, a Peavey (vtm I think) as well. The 800 really nailed the Gorod - Leading Vision tone with 7 strings. I'd imagine he's got the 2000 tweaked nice and tight! Congrats, lad.

This amp is very particular about speaker and cab pairing. More so than a typical amp. Almost night & day performance and freq differences between all six of my cabs. So far it sounds best thru both my CL80 loaded PPC 412 with my UK V30 Mesa Trad 412.

The tone stack is great. I really like the interaction between the presence and treble controls because you can really tailor those biting, cutting and sometimes fizzy JCM high end freqs.
The low end control still has goods to offer even after the 3:00 position. The deep switch helps too.

The sweep of the midrange control is really wide. I'm running it quite low at 9:00 but with the tone shift button in the "out" position which boosts the mids overall in another manner so things stay tight.
I'm using Ultra gain lead 1 with the gain at 9:00 with a boost pedal and eq pedal in front. The Ultra lead 2 setting is too much, even at lower settings.
Preamp tubes are 2 Ruby HG+, a Tungsol & Eurotubes labled one. EL34 pair are Eurotubes labled.
