Human Abstract would probably be up your alley.
Also, Textures.

Every band out now has a perfect mix on their records where it sounds like there's no human element anymore in it, especially the drums. In fact, I find it refreshing to listen back to older stuff and like the fact that the recordings don't sound perfect.

So damn badass

Instrumental:
-Russian Circles
-Pelican
-Jakob
-If These Trees Could Talk
IMHO, all of the above bands have something to offer to the metal/progressive crowd. YMMV.
Ultra-heavy modern bands I dig:
-Fit for an Autopsy
-Whitechapel
-Within the Ruins
-Thy Art is Murder
-Soreption
Heavy yet progressive:
-Between the Buried and Me
-The Contortionist
-Tesseract
-Gojira
-Odium

Yeah those dudes in Revocation are some crazy beer-fueled loons!
EDIT: Existence is Futile is an awesome listen. I like David's approach to guitar. He manages to blend a ton of styles together and make it his own.
Also, check out Demiricous. The definitely didn't get the love they deserve. Killer band.
