More Don Dokken

As much as this video is rough and his singing is as well, I'll always cherish ALL of those bands like Ratt, Dokken, Crue, etc., etc. I don't think any of us would stop digging that music just because of footage like this. Shit, people get old and eventually pass.

One of the roughest videos I ever watched, and teared up watching it actually, was the final "Last In Line" gig they did on that cruise hours before Jimmy Bain passed away. You can tell he is not well but he was still trying to jam up there. Nobody could have predicted he would be gone and Eddie Trunk even had to come out and tell everyone the next day that they wouldn't be playing.

It sure doesn't get any better in these vids either.

Having watched my housemate die slowly on Oxycontin, it sure looks to me like it's medicinal opiates.

The proper version.
Saw this tour. They kicked ass!!!
Man that’s the Lynch I love. Dude was on fucking fire!

Dokken needed a rhythm guitarist/keyboard player. e.g. Paul Raymond.

Never liked his voice, and his lyrics are juvenile at best. i.e. Teenybopper rock.

WHAT!!!?? Dude, are you high?

"We're the Dream Warriors, don't wanna dream no more". Poetry my friend. Don't be surprised if a future president uses that for a re-election campaign down the road.

Well put brother. I've never been in his shoes at that level so who am I to judge. Hopefully we don't see more videos of him like this in the future and it's a one time event.

 Reminds me of when my friend Tim said to me: "Are you kidding, dude? The Quarter Pounder w/cheese is fuckin' gourmet!"

shit, thats hard to watch.
hes obviously on muscle relaxers and painkillers. He probably does have amounting medical bills. He probably needs to do those big stupid middle america fests and state fairs that for some baffling reason, still pay a bank to aging/irrelevant acts. I don't mean to talk shit about the guy, but he might be just doing what he has to do to survive, based off burning bridges, bad biz and financial moves, etc. Life never stops throwing people curve balls, so stay humble, fell musicians. :(

He's done. Time to hang it up and play Bocce at the seniors center.

I’m sure he’s got tons of medical bills. Needs to work to survive.
But wonder how his lifestyle is? Living like a rock star still?
I remember seeing a interview with Rob Hanford. After he left Priest years ago.
Living in a small 1 bedroom apartment in Arizona.
Kinda sad. But he wasn’t blowing big bucks on some million dollar home.
Hope Don is doing the same for his sakes.

The ultimate badass was Lemmy. Dude gets a place above the Rainbow for super cheap and lives his life simple. Goes to record shops, plays his game at the Rainbow Bar and Grill, and reads books and just himself. I loved watching the "Lemmy" documentary because he was like any one of us and didn't give a crap. True rocker till' the end.

My reaction is different than most when I see things like this. I have more compassion. He had a truly splendid voice in his younger days. I think he should probably retire from performing and get involved in some other aspect of the music industry. That’s what I think old musicians should do if they can’t cut it live anymore. Stay involved. Just be behind the scenes.

Yeah BG, how's that old saying go?

"Those who can't, teach"... or something like that.

The worst thing IMO about those types of shows isn't the bands. It is some of the fans at these events that I can barely stomach. Don't get me wrong, anyone can go to a show and I would never tell someone not to do something. But it is hard for me to see a certain type of "fan" at a show. They are the ones that get up, back and forth, the entire show getting Nachos, beer, chips, candy, a funnel cake, more nachos, etc. They are in their seats for 4 minutes out of 90. On top of that, they thing Whitesnake did "Round and Round" or Motley Crue is from Germany and they try to tell everyone around them that....as I cringe....

Brit Floyd is a phenomenal Pink Floyd tribute band. First time I saw them, the event center was halfway filled and you could tell every person knew the songs, were air guitar and air drumming, and was cool to see people introducing their kids to the awesome music. Fast forward a few years, and we go to the same venue. Packed and filled with people who just went that night because they had nothing better to do. There was a family in front of us having a full blown argument about something, getting up and down all night getting food, and then the Mom dropped something in the dark and the whole family had their cell phone lights on trying to locate it. I was in concert hell.

This is like spoken word Dokken. I saw both videos and said to myself... is this real?

I hear ya on that. The last time I saw Megadeth was in 2009. The floor was general admission then there was an upper level with tables and TVs playing the concert. I thought the idea of that upper level was for old fucks like myself that want to sit down, order drinks and watch the concert. But of course it didn't work out that way. Buncha 21 year old guys pacing back and forth regurgitating ancient Megadeth/Metallica lore like it was some exclusive information that only they were privy to, and it was their job to shout it out to everyone within screaming distance: "Dave Mustaine used to be in Metallica. Then one day he said "Fuck you guys, I'm starting MY OWN BAND".

Fascinating late breaking info, good to know.

Then tables full of girls in their early 20s screaming over the music about bullshit that has nothing to do with anything.
:(

I attended an Ace solo gig and a Steve Vai gig at a local theater. Through both concerts morons were squeezing by with their huge cups of beer spilling all over the place, then a few minutes later up to use the bathroom and would come back with another glass of beer, and over and over all the way through both concerts.
:(

Haven't been to a concert since, been over 10 years now. Too old and grumpy to deal with it. Concerts weren't like that back in the day.

Dude, you nailed it! It drives me crazy. And another thing is the handful of people who film the "WHOLE SHOW" from their phone. Don't get me wrong, cool to capture a shot or the start of a concert but these people are like Steven Spielberg.

Please tell me you are 50 years old like me....LOL!
