They do use "backing tracks" including vocals in certain parts, but both Tommy and Nikki are definitely playing.whats the term, "the cover up is worse than the crime"?? Besides us jerks here, i really doubt anyone still going to see motley in 2026 is too concerned if they are using backing tracks or not, id even say id rather they use them to ensure they sound good than not if im paying all that money. Wouldnt the best thing to do if questioned be just to say "we are gonna give you the best show possible every night" or something generic instead of telling me my skepticism is outdated and unfair??![]()
i hope he said that sarcastically while holding in a laugh which we cant see through words lol

i dont know man, i know i remember reading Mars say Nikki dosent play at all live at all and they been using backing tracks since the 80s when he got fired. its pretty clear here
Fully agree. Vince hasn’t killed it since December 1984I would go see the Crue in the clubs back in the day. Vince has never been a good singer. He really should hang it up. I think he is disgracing his legacy, such as it was....

I respect Mick as a musician, but he was being vindictive and revenge minded when he made those statements (and I understand why to a certain extent)...And he went on to lose the lawsuit in which he made those comments via deposition. They definitely use backing tracks. That said, I have been at sound checks, backstage, at the board, ect during several of their stadium shows with Def Lep, and other recent shows including the Vegas residency and I can tell you that Tommy and Nikki are absolutely both playing. The backing tracks consist of certain preludes, interludes, keyboard and other ambient sound effects as well as certain vocals (band "gang" style vocals and the dancers backing vocals). That has been my experience.
I can completely understand this perspective...And I'm not really certain what John was implying with the "outdated thinkers" commentary. But he is correct in stating that at times Nikki will make an audible errors on stage...Tommy very occasionally does as well. John?.... Almost never. Vince is Vince, he's had considerable health struggles over the last 10 years and is still doing the best he can.And if John5 explained it like you just did, i dont think many people would have a problem. like i said, i rather they do what they do if it means putting on a better show, im not looking to go see Motley and be standing there all stiff arms crossed critiquing every note, but to go on with the assumptive language like politicians use making it sound like nikki is getting no help at all, and then calling us "outdated thinkers" when we all can clearly see thats not the case, is just kind of funny to me lol
the entire band was like that back in 2015 when they finished .. 11 years hasn't given them any energy back haha /// mind you has it for any of us? lolHe sounds like his voice is good tonal my . He just seems to be not singing with any intensity so he falls a lil flat . Hes so close though
Absolutely...Tommy is an amazing drummer. I understand this sentiment regarding instrument proficiency of other band members, but with Nikki being a principal songwriter (and pretty genius at it), it's probably a good thing he stayed on board.Tommy is actually a good drummer. It’s sad him and Mick couldn’t find a better bass player and singer to carry the rest of the weight.
