I found two NOS HellBaby Bridge models recently. Seller says he's never actually used them. Technically you can't kill me because they aren't a set.![]()

I’ve not tried the Hellbaby’s, but for what it’s worth, I’ve tried many of the other Motor City models in various types of guitars (Les Paul, SG, super Strat, Jackson, PRS) and have had WCR/JWP’s in almost everything but a Les Paul style guitar and much prefer the WCR’s to any of the Motor City’s I’ve triedZado":szyxs25l said:Curiosity: do these pickups behave cool or are designed for both LPs and superstrats, or there are specific models that behave better in one out of the two? Like, you know, WCR/JWP which are mainly LP pickups.

I don’t think the WCR/JWP’s necerassily have to be in Les Paul’s. They’ve sounded great in everything I’ve trie so far and I’ve had em in a pretty diverse range of guitar whether it be my Nik Huber Dolphin (Mahogany/maple top), Parker Nitefly, all maple Carvin DC, all Koa Carvin DC, and all Rosewood custom guitar. Great pickups!

What were the better points for WCRs?
Well firstly, the WCR neck pickups I’ve had, especially the Dark Burst and Godwood (they’re basically the same neck pickup, just .2 diffeeence in DC resistance) just have a blend of being liquidy/fluid yet also very focused and articulate that I didn’t feel any of the Motor city pickups could match and the cleans on them were also more lush and detailedlowmantotempole":2oidhty3 said:Zado":2oidhty3 said:Right when the MCP gas was striking...braintheory":2oidhty3 said:I’ve not tried the Hellbaby’s, but for what it’s worth, I’ve tried many of the other Motor City models in various types of guitars (Les Paul, SG, super Strat, Jackson, PRS) and have had WCR/JWP’s in almost everything but a Les Paul style guitar and much prefer the WCR’s to any of the Motor City’s I’ve triedZado":2oidhty3 said:Curiosity: do these pickups behave cool or are designed for both LPs and superstrats, or there are specific models that behave better in one out of the two? Please enlighten us...
I had the hell baby bridge in one of my guitars for a while. It’s got the heat and sustain of a hot pickup. Despite being hot, it’s not going to paint you into a corner with an overly aggressive & compressed tone. Don’t get me wrong, there is some compression, it’s just not over the top. It also has a cleaner and more neutral character to it with good clarity under gain. It has a bit of roundness/fatness to the notes as well, but it’s still plenty tight for fast riffing.Detroit1973":1bol8jrd said:Can someone describe the hellbabys to me please?

I haven’t been into EMG’s in years, but I’ll admit that trying to find a passive that can match their combination of tightness, power, & low end response can leave one feeling a bit unfulfilled.Detroit1973":2a2czs1g said:1meanplexi":2a2czs1g said:I recently grabbed a 2nd degree BB from a fellow member here. I think my problem is i've been using EMG 81's for so Long (Close to 27 Years) that i'm used to that Fast Tracking they do. I also got used to the tone & reaction of the Low End.

Why does he take that long for a set of pickups? Is he a 1 man shop and clearly doing everything himself? Is it a side gig/hobby and he can only has so much time to make them? I'm genuinely interested because it just seems like a crazy long wait for a set of pickups. Again, not trying to be a dick but genuinely interested.
