Musical genres and the sterotypes that are true

I can point you in the right direction if you are serious about this since I am a bluesman. I have a purple and a brown fedora that are evidence of my qualifcations.
If i purchase one of these fedoras, then can I, too, play the blues? Asking for a friend

I hate fake drums whether they sound good or not. A machine cannot be organic the way a human with a soul and feel of their own will. A computer will never be able to replicate a great drummer.

Follow me here: I was on X for a minute. Hip-hop/rap dudes were going insane over AI taking over a lot of their music production for a lot of artists, especially younger ones who can't afford production costs. I ruffled some feathers when I told them I was saying this back when drum machines became central to hip-hop/rap production in the 90's and yet my thoughts were pretty much dismissed at the time. "Just a hater stuck in the past". Now lay in the bed you've made. People need to see the logical conclusion that machines will ultimately remove most of the human element from music altogether. No more studio musicians required. No more engineers. Just a few people stamping their approval on what the machine has created.

Im not sure exactly what you are including in your fake drums reference, I do like a lot of VST and triggered sounds that are sampled real drums and a lot are borderline indistinguishable, but the performance kills me, and someone playing a real kit with triggers or an ekit with VSTs is a different animal than running programmed files through a sound library.

Music has been so formulaic for so long now, if you are one who listens to main stream, you're very unlikely to notice any change from the current writing laboratories to AI created music, and if I had to choose between these two I would probably rather listen to what AI has to offer.

This has been a sliding slope for a while now though... the general public has been so conditioned to everything being pitch corrected and time aligned, that fix it in the mix mentality has lessened the importance of getting that one great performance take. Or when they do get a great take someone hits that quantize button and sucks the soul out of what was laid down.

idk man have you all heard newer rap? theres some interesting stuff out there now. unlike the genres you mentioned anything goes in rap. EDM influence, metal, punk influence, all prevalent in this new wave. check this out it’s EDMish and has distorted guitars

If I have never liked rap since I first heard it, even when it was done with real instruments... why would this "new" rap be any different?

Thats like repeatedly hitting myself in the nuts thinking the next time will be better... when I should just ask myself why do I keep hitting myself in the nuts in the first place.

I am leaving rap/pop out of this because it is pure trash. It is beneath my notice and shouldn't even be called music (it is lip syncing and choreographed dance moves made for simple people by simple people)

I should leave out country, but it is my favorite thing to bash. So here goes

Country
Any music genre that requires you to use a bumfucked accent is not real. If you need more proof than a fucking Austrailian having a southern accent when he sings country...then you are as simple minded as the country fans. And while i appreciate old country a bit....this new shit is just rebranded pop

Death metal
Knuckle dragging three string playing assholes. But really, what are those treble strings doing on a weapon of destruction in the first fucking place? Fucking noodling shit

Punk
Nonconformist-conformists that are underdogs, but much smarter than everyone around them.

Blues
Low gain pentatonic wingtip wearing fedora sporting cliche embracing cornballs

This list is incomplete, so I am going to need all of your help
You forgot a few:

Country
If we're talking about Bro Country (which I HATE), they try to either sneak or openly display some kind of tribute to Wap culture into their persona way too often to show they are "cool" and "modern". 🤬

Death Metal
Constantly interrupted during basement jam sessions by Mom----with sandwiches. 👩‍🦱 See also SNL Goth Chat and Kids in the Hall Simon and Hecubus aka the Puppies of Purgatory!

Punk
Black Fingernail polish and eyeliner for ~men. Edgy Douchebag stickers all over the back glass of their cars....if they have one.

Bluez
Come on.....this was too easy.....TAN PANTS and muffintops! And Hawaiian shirts.

I don't like instruments that use modeled or simulated sounds.

Djent - "Yes, I'll have one 9-string guitar please! Oh and make it headless, because headless means techy and futuristic and new, and those things are always better. What's that, I need to order a side? Ok I'll take a 2-foot long strap. Yes just 2 feet is fine, I won't be hanging it any lower than my armpits because it's never even entered my mind that not looking like a huge dorkass nerd on stage might not be the best way to convey the sense of power this music is meant to evoke. Why 9 strings? Well obviously it's because lower notes = heavier than, in every possible situation, duh. Plus it means I don't have to try as hard to write good riffs, the low notes will do that for me! Nah don't worry about inlays or fret markers, I won't be playing anything higher than the first three frets of the lowest two strings so I won't need them. What? Why not just play a 6-string baritone? Well obviously because more strings means more people will think I'm smart and technical. No I don't mind that the neck will be so wide that it will feel like I'm playing an ironing board. Anything else? Hmm, how about a gig bag with a big pocket in front for my amp, which is a macbook running plugins. Oh almost forgot, I'll also take one footswitch that does the descending sine wave bass drop sound effect thing that I can press 8 times per song."

Old classic 70s country is the best. The music will be slow and twangy but hit your soul like a train. Those guys lived hard back then.

You’ll have to troll harder than that to get the reaction you’re looking for around here
i’m not trolling at all i just listen to a lot of shit lol. the rap shows now have the energy that i see in those old Sepultura and Megadeth videos from the 80s and 90s. i saw Gorguts and Death to All a few months back and they played great but ppl weren’t going fucking ballistic like how they do at UG rap shows today. to be fair it’s a whole different age group.

the most hype metal show i’ve been to that wasn’t local was maybe Cavalera Conspiracy but even then the energy wasn’t as crazy. to each their own i guess 🤷🏽‍♂️

I see a ton of energy expended with the dancing and lipsyncing in kpop. Doesn't make it good music. But if you like that video you shared, that is wonderful

Well we've had at least one generation of the media and industry hyping the hip hop

Punk is basically just corporate rock now. They became the establishment they so earnestly sung against.

Punk has suffered more AIDS than almost any other genre because of how ugly the hypocrisy is - being "against the system" and then paradoxically telling people to conform to the majority's standards and practices.
