Musical genres and the sterotypes that are true

Punk has suffered more AIDS than almost any other genre because of how ugly the hypocrisy is - being "against the system" and then paradoxically telling people to conform to the majority's standards and practices.
Reminds me of the goth southpark episode

If i had to listen to that autotune/electronic drums/no redeeming quality music, i would probably want to take it out on the crowd also
I'm guessing the source of the violence at those shows is one guy getting angry about having his beaver fur felt hat knocked off his head or someone spilling a drink on an expensive bowling shirt.

yea man i mean its fair that you don’t like it. there’s a lot of overlap with composing OSTs. the producers that make those beats aren’t that far off from what the Duke Nukem and Doom devs were doing in the 90s. if anything it’s only gotten more complex and it’s def got substance. it’s not as easy to make that stuff as it sounds. personally i enjoy OSTs just as much as i enjoy traditional stuff.

"We're PUNK! Being a conformist lemming is the worst thing you can be. You're a conformist if you don't dress, talk, act, drink, and sound exactly like us, who are definitely not conformists." has always made that goofy hypocritical culture of theirs pretty entertaining to watch.

I get that it may have started with more or less a genuine anti-establishment sentiment but it's devolved pretty hard into a bunch of followers who just want to be a part of a group and will self-enforce cultish standards of strict adherence to make themselves feel like their group is extra special.

IME most musicians are conformists either in the hopes of riding trends to financial success, trying to seem hip to their peers, or just because most of them are douchebags by nature.

It very much was not like that, even in the 90s when Green Day and the Offspring blew up

Even when Blink 182 became the "next big thing" it wasn't like that

Yes, there were always elements of "that's not punk" - policing, politicking, and gatekeeping, but that wasn't what made punk jump the shark

Punk died in the 2010s when it was converged fully by the intersectional elements of the neo-marxist left - punk was always left wing, so it made easy prey for the types of tactics that the corporate HR uber-Karens use when they want to wear something as a skin suit.

Ironic, because punk used to be one of the best vehicles for left wing politics and ideas, and by embracing a very specific flavor of them, instead, it's a complete fucking joke now

I've played in punk bands forever and you guys would laugh so hard if you heard some of the shit I hear at shows.

Every single band (and i'm not exaggerating, every single one) has to stop in the middle of their set for the "virtue signal monologue" as we call it. You have to stop in the middle of the set and say how bad you think racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc etc are - and if you don't, you're going to get the side-eye from the crowd and other bands. It's absolute insanity. Every band does it because every band is terrified of being cancelled or catching an untrue me-too allegation. It's like 1984 with mohawks.

Yeah it's lame what it has become. Performative garbage like that doesn't help anything and worse, it puts a speed bump in the vibe of the show. Like I get that it's nice to feel like you're in a place where you're accepted and around like-minded people when it comes to that stuff but that kind of thing should be discovered organically by the crowd interacting with each other, kind of like what happens at metal shows. Coming out and decreeing it outright and really hitting it on the nose is just kinda weird.

It's absolutely insane - i'm actually tempted to take a quick video of it every time I know it's coming, and make a montage clip

That would be pretty funny, as long as I could do it discreetly.

Remember the allegory "Invasion of the body snatchers"? We get to see it every day anymore.

Your house will get firebombed by some screeching purple hair hamplanets.

Honestly, yeah, probably - especially if I posted it publicly, like on youtube or FB or something

There's nothing blue-haired sentient nose rings hate more than actually looking in the mirror. Both literally, and figuratively

That is the gayest shit i have ever heard. Now i know what you mean by the trenches. I would never do some gay shit like that

I have never cared if a band had my same views on politics or really even religion as long as they weren't droning on about it. I really dont give a shit what anyone thinks as long as it isn't in my face, tbh

I don't care either as long as the opinion being voiced falls in line with what Paul Reed Smith and my favorite Fedora hatter think about it.

'80s hard rock - Effeminate boys pretending to be men while wearing more mascara and lace then a whore house madam.

Imo the last real punk band to come out was NOFX. Fuck pretty much the whole scene after that.

Edit: Nah, I just remembered Nashville Pussy, great fucking band. But after that then fuck the whole scene.

Hmmmm, then there's the girls bands, like I love me some Donna's or Coat Hangers if you'd lump them in as punk which I kinda do. Same type of great energy and simple songs.
