My AxeFx is having me consider selling my amps

Even though I love tubes in some clubs they are not very practical as most of amps sound better turned up. I also get tired though of having to swap pedals around depending on the amp. Some pedals do better with certain amps. I also would like some more versatility. On a side note....does Fractal sell a floor controller that works with the axe fx just like line 6 has with the FBV floorboard? I don't like programming a midi board. I find it enough of a pain already to program a modeller, LOL.

I don't find it worth arguing about. If I don't like, I won't buy. I have a 20th anniversary shiva I took to a friend's place recently because he wanted to check it out. I wanted to check out his Plexi and some of his digi gear. He has an Axe FX Standard, a Digitech GSP and a PODX3 Pro. He bought the AxeFX recently for his studio after trying one.
I have to say it is pretty sweet! Personally I would probably only use it for recording and with that in mind I found the PodX3 good enogh for recording. Playing the Axe through the Pa next to the real Bogner did not feel as good or have the balls of the real thing but was sort of close. Still was not as fun to play for ME.
Now running either the PODX3 or AxeFX through his Carvin power amp and real guitar cab was killer. The tube power amp and cab added something back for me. I am tired of buying tube amps personally because it just gets old and drains my wallet. I will admit I stillthink tubes feel better to me.....make me play a bit better and I enjoy it more which helps me play better. With any modeller I sometimes get the feeling I am playing a recording of an amp but it gets closer all the time. We were using a 212 cab with modified celestion CL80s sort of like the speakers line 6 used to use. Great speakers for modelling and I was even able to run cab sims through em. That is key to me using a modeller live and to have it feel like a real amp, run it through a tube power amp that is relatively neutral with relatively neutral speakers like cl80s! Nice results. Then run it direct at home for recording. But that's me!
For recording I think I am picking up a POD X3 Pro but might someday upgrade to a
Fractal. If I am the only guitarist in the band modellers do well but CAN suffer against a tube amp.

Of course you can just throw an amp sim up there and go with it, but I'm always reaching for the unit trying to get it to sound more...........real. Will i keep the Axe...not sure. Everytime i get done tweaking for a few minutes and playing i say ok, cool stuff. But i plug into the Fortin and say "yeah, that's the shit".

Standard or Ultra? The Ultra has a looper, and you can play a riff, loop it and then actively dial the tone into what you want.

Pedals in front? It's obvious they like that solid state sound they add.

Of course they will NEVER admit its adds that..they'll just say it enhances the tubes and some other nonsense. But the fact is they take what the tube is contributing to the low strings--which is fat spread out harmonics--and they negate that effect so the tube does NOT give on those notes(exactly as solid state does.) Posts like mine and other wouldnt even have to be made if people were balanced and educated in their posts---but thats not what we have have. Do some freakin tests on what tubes actually sound like and what compression and pedals do to low notes and you'll see you've got Rich Little doing an impression of Johnny Carson. It may fool you-- but I know Johnny Carsons voice

Deeply in there somewhere is the Make Sound, Feel, and Respond Better than the real amp parameter. It defaults to 0. Cranking it to 10 is tonal bliss that will make tears come to you eyes.
