Sounds great!

I'm enjoyed your clips in the past, so I'm anxious for your full review on the Mark V. I've had a Mark IV for years and am completely happy with it (I even like ch-2), but I'm interested in reviews of the new one from experienced Mark users.

How's the C+ mode?

Jason

I will give a full review when I have more time to spend with the amp. There are so many nuances with this amp it will take some time to comprehend the possibilities. The IIC+ is really cool. My Dream Theater clip that I posted was all IIC+ with no boosts or anything. If you can handle the fact my guitar wasn't tuned with the backing track check it out. The lead tone I captured at 4:50 of that clip is by far my favorite.

I am not a huge mark guy....never played one.....but that sounds good! I really like a little sag. Sounds awesome!

You need to try one. I think it would go well with your style (Savatage, Rush, Y&T). In fact I am going to give Rush a shot with my next clip. Most likely a portion of Natural Science.

Your tone and playing are great! My only criticism is that your guitar sounds like it needs tuned. ;)

Sounds really good, there does seem to be more sag than I expected....but I'm not a mk owner either so what do I know.

Thanks guys!

Sounds pretty good. What are the basic settings, ie what channel and basic options do you have?

This clip was the Extreme setting. In o'clock: Gain 2:30 Treble 3 Mids 10 Bass 7 Presence 11. The master volume on this amp is awesome. The taper is perfect and as beneficial to low volume playing as previous Mark amps.

Sounds good! I would like to hear a bit more bite on it though, seems a tad mushy and I think a little more bite will sharpen it up more. That may not be the amp though, maybe mic placement or post eq'ing or something?

Also, does the eq work like a normal eq? ...or is it the same as the old Mark series?

There is some mush that was left on purpose to show the Extreme setting off. A clean boost would help but I wanted to do a clip with just the amp. The Mark IV setting is very focus and faithful to the original. The EQ is a mix. Some aspects work like the original but I definitely get better response from the knobs. Thanks for listening bro! You need to get your rig to your home so you can record some more clips!

Clip sounds good, I like the voicing of the amp.

+1

Sag has more to do with feel. The low end is different on the Extreme setting than the Mark IV setting. One of the very cool features of this amp. So many tones. You need to try one Bob. With your playing and recording skills you would make some amazing clips!

NICE! :) Can't wait to hear more clips! My Triaxis/2:90 rig might be for sale soon. :D My local shop ordered a V couple of weeks after the NAMM so we'll see how fast will they get it in.

I just wanted to make a quick comment. I just had a really cool moment with the amp. I had been using the sliders since yesterday (Graphic EQ). One of the new features on this amp is bypassing the sliders and using contour knobs )preset EQ settings). So far, I amliking it better with the contour buttons. It makes it so much easier to dial in killer tones. What a cool feature! Back to playing!!!

Sounds good man! How much are these heads going for?

Nice clip and great playing. The amp sounds really good. Maybe dial in a hair more top end for my taste but I'm also half deaf.  Really great work.

sounds great!!! What mic, mic pre and recording stuff you using?

Rhythm Guitars feel kind of buried somehow..especially in the intro piece....listening on to the end it got really good!

Sounds great! I always laugh at guys that say the MK series cannot get modern

Sag to me is feel, never really heard sag

Fair enough, it sounds like the bass is not quite as tight as the IV. Then again its likely due to the way I have my IV dialed in. I think the V sounds killer though.

Hey guys. I will reply tomorrow to any questions. I am traveling and will be able to reply tomorrow.

Thanks! I have been playing around with it all weekend and there is a lot of features in here. Tons of tone shaping options. It is everything I loved about my IV and then some.

Thanks! I used a Shure 57 and Sennheiser e609 mixed together. I use an M-Audio Mobile PRE USB and nTrack as my DAW.

That is more mixing skills than anything. I swear they have atrophied a bit over the last 6 months.

Me too Scott. I know you have a IV but you ought to give this one a try.

The Extreme mode is really neat. There is some cool Recto thing going on without it sounding like a Recto at all. The Extreme setting is really cool. Here is a quick line taken from the user manual "This Mode also takes it's architecture from the Mark IV, but is voiced almost opposite of the MK IV Mode in this Channel. Forward, aggressive, tight and fast are it's signature and it's highest gain and loudest of the Mark V's nine modes." "...try the Triode Mode setting for a more bouncy, sweet and harmonically rich voice that has a fair amount of old school sag to the power." I recorded this clip in Triode which could explain the cool low end you hear what I definitely feel. Very cool feature. The Pentode setting tightens up the attack for a more immediate response which is more reminiscent of the Mark IV.

Sounds great!!!

Thanks guys! Psychodave, it was your Mark IV clips from a couple of years ago that pushed me over the edge to give the Mark series a try again. They have been my favorite amps since.

I dont know if this has been asked but what are you using to record!

So what do you think of channel 2? I just got done playing my head for a few hours. I'm not sure what to think yet of it. I guess i expected more. Mark I mode is just too dark and woofy and Edge has left me flat. Crunch mode with a boost pedal seems to work nice.

Channel 3 does kick arse though, but i expected that.
