Enjoyed that. Great legato playing.
Is that a master volume change at the beginning on the footswitch?
You've said this amp has more to the sound than the dual channel.
Interesting. I would think the circuit is the same once switched across to ch2.
If you can share any of Mike Soldano's thoughts on this, it would be appreciated.

A tight speaker there - Eminence or Soldano branded?

As I understand it the normal channel of the SLO is always in the circuit and is 180 degrees out of phase with the OD side of the amp. When you switch over to the OD channel the normal channel is still there but you cant hear it since the phasing cancels it out. That being said if you were playing the OD side of the amp AND had the normal side of the SLO switched into crunch mode AND you had the gain turned up on the normal side it would have a slight effect on the tone of the OD side. By removing the normal channel from the amp you you are eliminating the effect it would have on the OD side. You can test this out on a stock SLO by switching the normal channel into crunch mode and turning the gain up & down while playing the amp on the OD side. You will hear a slight difference when the normal side pre-gain is increased/decreased. I don't believe you can hear any difference on the OD side if the normal channel is in clean mode though.

Thanks for the compliment! :)

Yes, that "click" is me changing master volumes.

Here's the deal with the standard SLO....the signal in the circuit path is always going thru the Normal channel. Even when in the Overdrive channel, the Normal channel still bleeds thru into the Overdrive circuit. You can check this yourself while in the Overdrive side, turn the Normal channel's preamp knob from 0 to 11 back and forth and you can hear and feel the difference in tone and attack. When the amp is cranked up the effect is less.

This is just how the SLO was designed. Having the amp built without the Normal channel in the circuit makes the Overdrive channel more "punchy" and a little more gain. This effect is even more apparent when the FX's loop is bypassed.

Thanks,
Bryan

It's well deserved, your playing us a pleasure to listen to.
Thanks for the tech info on the normal channel.

I was fishing to see if the newer branded speaker was in use, or the x12000.
I recall they are related to the Vintage 30 tone.

Oops! Yes, I have a newer Soldano cab wth Eminence V12 Legends.

Great playing and awesome tone!

A little too much whammy action going on there though. Not meaning to bash, but it's comparable to walking around with your zipper down or a booger in your nose and needing to know...someone needs to tell you! You're a damn good player...you don't need to garble it up with a bunch of nonsense whammying ;) Please don't take it in a bad way, just sayin...

The playing was ace, whammy and all.

I must look into one of these amps.
1 or 2 channel is the quandary. Hmm.

Two more days and I will be back to my SLO and destroying the silence....

Nice vid.
You should try that SLO on some EVM12L speakers.
You will be amazed what it will sound like.

Thanks! I've always been curious about the EVM12L. How would you describe their tone? I have a couple of 1x12's that I need to replace the Celestions.

They are very balanced and you get exactly what you put into them.
Alot of people say they are a stiff speaker because they are rated at 200w each but that is a false misconseption.
My Soldano HR100+ sounds so much better with EVM12L's than any other speaker i've played through including the Soldano Emminence legends.
There is no colorization in the tones like Celestion speakers gives you. I've now sold all my Celestions.

Very nice tone! Nice playing. I dig the whammy stuff too.

A little reverb or delay would be nice.
