Somedays I think my Sweetwater Rep dont give two fucks about me. We have had multiple conversations about multiple items, and I would probably have bought every one of them, but I dont get reciprocation. We discussed a new noise gate, then he went dark, pickups for my Les Paul, then he went dark, boss es5, yup you guessed it..dark. not saying i have tons of money to spend, but i have a zero interest SW card. You would think after $3-4k in the last year and a half i would get a little more attention. Is a SW rep like a realtor, can you just move on, or are you stuck for life. Rant Over.

The solution is simple: order a 6" patch cable and the day after you receive it:

ring ring ring

"yo klug-ski what's up big dawg just checkin' up witchoo homie"

*bwoooooooof (takes massive vape hit)

"saw you ordered a patch cable just wanted to make sure it's all good bra. Howzit werkin out?!"

How you proceed after that is up to you but accusing sweetwater of getting cheap with the bit o honeys should form the core of your conversation.

I had a good SW rep for years, long ago. He got promoted to management, and my new rep never really got to know me, partly my fault.

By that time, I found a rep at MF; better discounts, reward points, and my MF rep knows what I like, and don't like.

I'd say it's been at least 10 years working with her and I probably purchased 98% of my new gear from MF over that time, directly with her.

If I leave her a voice mail, she calls back fast, always. If I send her an email, she replies quick or calls me if I ask. If she knows I'm looking for a certain item, she calls me with updates of when it will be in stock, or when there are deals on brands I like. Best gear rep I've worked with.

edit: when I've had a few issues over the years with gear I ordered, she made it right. She even took one recent issue above her role to her management and they made it right.

Our emails just usually end. When I email back its crickets.

My SW dude is ok. I only work through email, which you'd think would be faster comms, but he usually takes 2 to 3 days to get back to me.

I tried getting an MF rep, but it didn't work out. I used to buy a lot of stuff from MF, but seem to get better discounts from SW.

I'd give MF a try. They often have call only 10%-15% off if you ask; and if you buy a lot, the reward points add up; I've had hundreds and even nearly 2000 points, which is worth $200 off anything; on top of any discounts. To keep points from expiring, just order a pack of strings and it resets the points expiration date. I've saved a lot of money on new gear this way. 15% off plus another $150 off with points - pretty good.

I got lucky with my rep, I forget how. Maybe it was an issue with an order, but she stayed professional and made it right; I got her first name , email and direct extension, and just started contacting her directly for everything ever since.

I'm sure they have similar financing options at MF; may take a few tries to find a rep you like, but MF doesn't assign a rep to you; if you find a rep you like, ask for their first name, email and direct extension then call or email them directly.

When it comes to new gear, I want new in the factory sealed box. Can't do that with guitars at SW. My MF rep knows that's what I want. She'll tell me if they have any at a warehouse or if it's only in a GC store - which means it could be a floor model which I don't want.

edit: like I said, if she's in the office, she gets back to me via email / call fast. If she's on another call, she'll email me to tell me that too. Many email replies are within minutes.

That sucks to hear bro.. I became really good friends with my rep. Also helps that I live fairly close. You can always ask to switch reps.. Especially if you feel like you’re not being taken care of properly. A couple of my buddies switched over to my rep, & it really turned their experience around. It shouldn’t matter what you spend. A great rep should match your vibe, & make it an experience rather than looking at you as dollar signs. Free food while we’re there, even gave me some free guitar pedals before 😃 + all the bit o honey’s your heart desires.. That’s the most important part.. ☝🏽

If you're on tour and have the splats from lunching at a bad Denny's eat a big handful of them and you'll be trimming bar stock with a knife as it extrudes from the forge before downbeat.

A sure fire recipe for a guitar smeared with faeces.

Don’t simp for your rep, it turns them off. You have to be nonchalant. Act like you don’t even really want that new piece of gear. Talk shit about it a little, like the amp probably doesn’t even chug or you bet the mids don’t cut. They’ll be emailing and calling YOU first. The discounts and Bit O Honey will come rolling in.

MF has given me solid deals, but either, A), they only have stock hanging on a wall at GC, or B), the Reps I've had don't respond for days. And I'm not a tire kicker - if I want something and the deal is good, I'm pulling the trigger. Sadly, they stock nothing factory-sealed. I always ask first, and rarely do they have guitars that aren't at a GC being abused. I don't call that new. I want factory-sealed, unmolested.
