Brilliant business model. Punish the guy who does his job. Seems to be a common thing in the modern era.
I think you got that confused with my job, 😆

I understand that sentiment very well. That’s not the way it went at Sweetwater for this gentleman though.

He makes more today than he did then and he likes the new arrangement. You wouldn’t believe the artist that he works with, and I can’t believe that he still takes my calls!

He still has several thousand customers and that’s a lot better than 11,000

In my experience when ordering from MF, if you see a hard delivery date like “Expected by Monday Mar 30” then it’s factory sealed and coming from the distribution center. On the other hand, if you see a generic “In stock & ready to ship” it will be a beat-up floor model missing the original box and papers.

I bought from SW on a regular basis 20 years ago, but there are much more competitive places to spend money nowadays.

Isn't this the company that has a concentration camp in Indiana somewhere where workers come to die?

The next Amazon? :dunno:

You know what my biggest problem with SW is? They just don't have much in terms of older products. A lot of the things I am interested in are not recent products. I understand they are a super forward-looking company, and that's great. It's just hard to find older stuff on their site.

Geez, you guys will bitch about anything. Sweetwater is great to me—I want something, I text the guy and he takes care of it and emails me the receipt and tracking. Best online retail experience I can imagine.

MF has given me solid deals, but either, A), they only have stock hanging on a wall at GC, or B), the Reps I've had don't respond for days. And I'm not a tire kicker - if I want something and the deal is good, I'm pulling the trigger. Sadly, they stock nothing factory-sealed. I always ask first, and rarely do they have guitars that aren't at a GC being abused. I don't call that new. I want factory-sealed, unmolested.

I shop the used section at GC 99% of the time. Outside of my last purchase, I've had pretty good luck.

The last 2 new guitars I bought were from SW. I liked that I was able to pick them out from the pics, but I get why you prefer factory sealed.

I think I just like to get the best price without haggling with a sales associate.

And the service I get from other places is just as good if not better.

That’s the thing, I get great discounts. Ask for a new rep?
Or just go elsewhere, of course

Just think of your sales associate as JD's couch and Sweetwater as Rig-Talk OT, problem solved.
