Bump the channel volumes to noon. That really helps it come alive, adjust master to taste.

Thanks. I'll try it. I only scratched the surface yesterday. A little volume seems like it will definitely open up the tone a lot more. Nice smooth taper on the volume knobs too, which is welcome. Really shockingly good cleans.

Love the VH4 and love the Diezel aesthetic!

No doubt. One of the coolest looking amps around.

You need a few more amps man. I'm disappointed with your collection; thought you had at least 10-15 amps.

nice amps, congrats on the vh4

for many years i hated the vh4, i owned one built in 2002 and i hated that amp, i tried to like it but it always sounded like something was missing, it was very dark and too compressed. i had played a bunch more vh4 after owning that one and still didnt like them but i noticed around 07 that they started to sound a little better to me but still not enough to buy another one, then in 2012 i played one and loved it, i couldnt understand how i could hate a amp for so many years and then play it again and love it, so i read in the forums that peter made some minor changes over the years, i ended up buying one and i think it was a 2013 model and really loved the amp but had to sell it because i had a KL explorer was that ready to be shipped and needed some cash quick, i still regret selling that amp. i wanna get another vh4 this year and one built after 2011 which i think was the last time peter did any changes. the newer vh4 just sounds better to me and its not just a tube change, i changed tubes in my 2002 vh4 and still hated it, the newer one sounded brighter and less compressed and wasnt as dark and the gain sounded better to me.

I've got a few in my storage unit like my '67 SLP, Soldano SLO, old Marshall 4X12s that I don't use often. I've really cut down though. Back in the filthy mega-whore days it was bad. I need more space for amps.

:)

Thanks Tom. Yeah I hear ya. The first VH4 I played in like 1999/2000 and I was like WTF. I agree with what you say. Really underwhelmed too. That's why I mentioned the revisions. There were some big tonal changes along the way. The newer models after 2007? sound/feel much better to me as well.

Sounds great!! Love Diezels!!

I've really calmed down from my collecting and flipping days now also. My favorite amp for the last few years has been the Soldano Hot Rod 25. Just massive sounding for a 25 watter. I had Mike do the depth mod and it hangs with my 50-100 watters, no problem. Sounds great regardless of the volume but up around 5-6 on the master it's a beast of a amp.

You know I'm just giving you a hard time

I'd have too hard a hard time deciding which amp to play!

Whichever is easiest to get to. :D

How does the FL Diezel cab compare to the FL Bogner cab. Both made by BAD, but with different specs I assume.

How does the Uber Rev. Blue sound with each, and how does the Herbert sound with each? Which do you like better?

I have one word for you.

Stereo...

-exactly!!,.. and then you'll be forever tied to at least 2 amps for your life, I've tried every form of using multiple amps, a true stereo rig always sounds best.

Awesome bro! Those are some big boy amps you have there. Very nice.

Played them both today... just for you... ;)... Both amps sound great with both cabs... neither combo sucks, that's for sure. I prefer them with their respective cabs... but maybe that cause what I'm used to hearing? The UberKab breathes, resonants and disperses the sound more. I like it with the Uber more as it spreads that big low-end around and fills the room. I like the Diezel FL better with the Herbert as it keeps the sub-bass under control and focused. The MkII seems like is has more/thicker bass than the MkI... maybe I'm getting senile? The UberKab will fit a wider range of amps... the Diezel FL is more specialized... but it also sounds killer with my Triple Recto.

Matt... You need to buy both. :D

For your Uber, I'd recommend the UberKab though.

For some reason after playing them I feel like:

Not sure why???

... and in related news... The VH4 KILLS!!!!!

I am amazed at what this beast can do. I have owned/played a bunch of amps... but for tone/versatility... this is one of the best. No question. And as someone mentioned above... It really opens up when you crank the volume. Killer lead tones from channel 4. It is not the low-volume master like the Herbert... The VH4 sounds really good at low volume and has a great MV control... but you can hear/feel it's dying to be turned up... and then watch out. Dam. Like a Lambo revving to be cut loose.

I need an Ubercab, but I'd have to custom order it with normal tolex. There's a used older rear loaded available locally I may get. My Uberschall sounds good through my BAD made Wizard cabs, so I imagine the rear loaded ubercab would be fine. But I love it thru my FB cab, so it make me want the frontloaded version
