Had a regular 5150 iii and sent it back, good but not great. Question is this that much better to consider trading in a Bogner 101b for? It sounds more SLO to me than the regular 5150 iii. I would still have my Bogner 20th XTC 101b as well. Thoughts?
 wait, a 100S for a 101b? not sure of Bogner pricing, but figure the MAP on the 100S = $2200, so figure the trade value from there.
I have a fully loaded SLO (Haynes, SRV, effect loop, depth) and to my ears, the 5150iii 100S is nothing like that at all. its bright like an SLO, but the 2 amps are completely different at gigging volume, but my SLO has KT66's. YMMV

$2200 is about what a dealer would pay trade wise at most on a regular 101B (they would be paying less of course since the 5153S costs them less than $2200. I don't use it much since I have the 20th. I really like some of the clips I heard, but would need to try it for myself I guess if I can get one. Can GC still get them? Assuming if MF has them then GC could get me one...

ok cool!
I'm not sure of the 100S availability through GC (even though MF = GC). But my private reserve rep called from MF today, and said another 4 went out over night, and that they expect only about 5 or 6 more heads before they are all gone. ;)

...we oughta get a commission from MF for soooo shamelessly pimping these 100S's....

What's this I hear that the clean channel of the stealth breaks up earlier!!!!

Does it get as good a clean as the regular version? Good headroom?

Hope it does :gethim:

Chris

Not quite. It's still clean but definitely less headroom. But still sounds great to me. It breaks up a lot earlier compared to my regular 100 watters and 50 watt. But it does sound really good as it breaks up though. But I need my clean channel clean.

Fuck, i don`t like that. I need a great clean clean channel, less headroom is not a good thing for me. Maybe since the changes are handmade, one could reverse them on the clean channel

Just a stupid thought here.

I won`t jump to conclusions yet, i`ll wait till i get my hands on it first.

Overall, witch version do you prefer? Moshaholic was saying he`s finding it too bright, is this the case to you also?

Can the Stealth achieve the same tones as the regular by tweaking it a bit?

Buyers remorse am i having  LOL

Thanks,

Chris

I have a new rule when buying gear - don't get what you don't know

Chris - hope this amp works for you, some folks going gaga over it

Yeah i know what your saying, but i know the basics of this amp, i own the regular one, and it`s hard to try stuff out sometimes. I`m sure it gonna work out, i`ll find a way with that clean channel.

I don`t even have it yet and i`m already complaining!!!! What is this world coming to?????

LOL

good thing about musicians friend, if you don't like it - send it back

I can play VH2 tunes on channel 1, it's like another crunch channel lol

agreed...don't forget AC/DC and Priest...
seriously though, you could get a very usable crunch on the original Ch1 as well...
Overall there's just MORE gain on the head, especially since the preamp tubes are shared between all 3 channels

It's a 4 channel amp with a little volume control. That 2x12 combo blues is REALLY similar to the stealth.............

....and the 2x12 is the exact same amp as the 50w head, minus the power scaling. And I have to admit, I like my original 100w more than my 50w for what I do.
