When you crank the LarMar MV its out of the circuit. To be honest, my amp sounds best with the MV at about 2-3 o'clock and then attenuating it with the PS.

Maybe that's why Greg Germino is a Famous name in the High End Amp Industry and Kevin the owner/builder of Rockitt Retro Amps sell his for about $1200 and is not famous

Sounds great. If you're in the market for a new attenuater, I just picked up the Fryette Power Station and can't recommend it enough. It's by far the best attenuater I've ever used. It's got great features and will allow you to add a transparent loop to all those amps without.

Thanks that first LP (loaded with low output Wizz pickups) I had plugged in did not have near as much balls as the second LP, they sounded way different for sure plus the second one was tuned in E flat. Actually those guitars are replicas as well   1980 Tokai LS80 and 2002 Navigator.

I have a Fryette Power Station ordered that is due to get here Tuesday.
You'll be amazed by it. Check back after you get it with your thoughts.
Yeah I have one with my Metro-Friedman (12301 spec) and I can't say enough about it either...just flat out a game changer. The volume is so sensitive. Killer loop too.

My Power Station will be here Tuesday! May sell the Aracom and Alex if it's as good as advertised, which from all accounts so far it is better.

Bronco if you ever let go of that Metro Friedman Plexi get ahold of me.

Uh, the long wait over the weekend.

That sounds like rock 'n' roll itself. I remember trading an Ecstasy for a 100 watt Marshall, white anniversary, plexi half stack and never regretted it. I love my '69 Metro that I built from the kit days. It's been the longest in the stable and I can't imagine selling it.

Congrats!...yeah the PS is just amazing.

And as far as the Metro Friedman goes, I'll never get rid of it. But that spec is widely known; tons of guys over at the Metro boards have built the same thing. Also, a good friend of mine was in Tone Merchant's last weekend, and he said they had two of them there...give Dave or Rob a call!

Yes it is certainly the sound of rock and roll, at least old rock n roll :D I just love it! I'd love to build one of these! I can solder fairly decent and Bias an amp with a biasrite and have replaced a few amp pots but other than that I have no clue about the insides of these things.

How do you tame the volume on yours, PPIMV? other?

I use a Marshall Powerbrake that I've had for over 10 years. Not boutique or the latest, greatest but it sounds killer and does the job. I'm often on one or two clicks above load and it sounds great to me. I have the Lar/Mar kit that I got when I first got the Metro kit but never bothered to install it as I wasn't gigging anymore. If I was gigging with the amp I would install it. I might look into the Torpedo Live or Reload one day but only if I get back into recording again. The VHT looks cool but I don't really need a loop or the separate power section. I like analog delays in the front. I have a Hotplate as well for 4 Ohm amps and could probably use one more attenuator as every amp I have, except one, needs to be cranked to sound it's best.

Bumping this thread as I have a used 100 Watt Metro Friedman Plexi incoming right after Christmas and looking forward to how it compares to this one. It is supposed to be more geared to getting the early EVH tone. They came with Sozo caps originally but this is serial number #2 and had old mustard caps installed intstead. Got a killer deal on it and am pretty excited.

DUDE! You lucky dog! That one sounds great! Can't wait to hear the comparison of the two!

Clip sounds great. Can't wait to hear how the MetroFriedman compares.

Man you werent lying. Them AC/DC tones were jumping out!
I would hate to have an amp like that. It forces you not to make mistakes. :aww:

Seriously sounds good.

Small world...I subscribed to your channel yesterday without even seeing this. haha

Congrats! I have this amp also; you will not be disappointed, particularly if you have a Fryette Power Station. And FWIW, it's not just "supposed to be more geared getting the early EVH tone", it literally is the same #12301 spec. Just a great amp.

Can't wait, I'm covered for attenuators. I'm a hoarder, I've got a Tone King Iron Man, an 8 & 16 ohm Alex, and the Power Station. They all get used. Power Station is great and has the loop, but the other two are no slouches for cutting back some db's. I like them all.

When does MF'r get there?
