Hey, since we got some Wizard guys here, lemme rock a question or two!

My MCII seems to run quite hot. I’m not a tech, but it seems like it gets—and stays—hotter than my other amps. And I’ve heard they run at higher voltages.

So my question is: what are yallz experiences with power tube longevity? Does your Wizard go through power tubes quicker than other amps? I know build quality is top notch, but I can’t shake the feeling that all that punch and dynamics may come at a price: ie short power tube life.

Is this a legit concern, or am I trippin?

Mine runs about as hot as my ‘69 Marshall during a 4 hour gig. Usually still warm when I get home after the gig (typically 30-45 mins). Don’t gig as much as I used to, but back in the heyday was 2-3 nites a week 4 hour gigs. I would go thru power tubes in 6 months. These were the Chinese EL34B’s. Back to running the JJEL34L’s and bias at 55-60%. Still use the amp alot….probably get a year maybe year and a half on a set.
They don’t really run at high voltages, just like a typical old Marshall…high 400’s volts.
