Need a Boost that DOES NOT cut the low end.

Boss OD-3

They are known for being bassier and are one of Boss' sleepers, great pedal imo.

Can hang with a lot more expensive pedals...in my view.

MK.4.23. TOTALLY TRANSPARENT. It doesn't tightnen an amp up like a clean boost, it just gives you more of what your amp already has without coloration. Awesome pedal.

MXR classic overdrive, it just adds some gain and sensitivity, grabbed mine at GC for like 50 bucks....the Zakk Wylde is the same pedal....

MXR GT-OD. Cuts less bass than the Wylde. Sounds better overall also.

Try a boost in the loop. I use a Barber tone press in a series loop and turn the compression down and boost the level and sustain, doesn't add much gain so you still might need another TS type boost out front but man in the loop it adds some fat tight 3-D'ness. KoKo in the loop will do the same thing but add a little gain. I like my Koko out front better but wouldn't mind have one pre-gain and another post-gain in the loop.

All you have to do is change out a cap in your Tubescreamer and the bass doesn't go away.

I use a BB preamp. It's a great little pedal. Almost 100% transparent. It really doesn't change the sound of my amp hardly at all and there is virtually NO bottom end loss. It just gives you that extra sustain and compression for solos. I used it for this tune running through an Egnater Renegade into a Marshall 1960b cab:

I love these threads. They're just like pickup recommendations; everyone has a different opinion.

Was actually gonna mention this, too. Replace the cap, and you're good to go.

Which cap to which value and do you lose the tightness when you do that? I'd almost think that the lack of bass is what tightens things up with a TS

Right??? It should just be called "Everyone list your boosts!"

OCD is anything but transparent. How about RC? Are you wanting a boost or an overdrive? How do you intend to use it?

I'm planning to use it with my Marshall Jubilee...Currently i'm using a Maxon OD-9 with the level all the way up, the tone at noon & the drive at 10 o'clock.

Boss GE-7 worked for slash for years ;)

Every "recommend me a ____" thread is really a "which ____ do you own" thread. But, if someone didn't actually use it, why would they recommend it?

Actually, I own around 20 different OD pedals. The Barber DD is the one IMO that doesn't cut the bottom end out.. Love it with my Mark III but prefer many others over it with the Makoplex. Carry on...:salute:

I've been through all the 808 overdrives and SD1 OD1's out there. Maxon od 808, Rocket Fuel, and OD1 boutique clones from Spain and SD1's.

The winner was SRB 808. He specifically alters the circuit to not cut as much low end when in stock mode and there are also bass boost switches if you desire. The pedal also has a SD1 mode and Clean boost mode on a three way switch. The only pedal that almost stayed was the Maxon Od808 that retained the most low end out of the stocker 808 pedals.

SRB808 is a great well built pedal that should cover all you need. My brother had an Aldrich Rocket Fuel and the SRB beat it hands down. I had given him the SRB as a gift and he eventually sold the Rocket fuel after playing them side by side for a long time he really wanted to like the Rocket Fuel but he could not deny the superiority of the SRB. The Rocker Fuel has this compression that I didn't care for.

There are some Youtube clips out there but I'm not sure if they translate well. Check them out you won't be disappointed.

The new Boss OD1-X. Best OD I've ever used. Bass and Treble controls. Makes everything I've tried it with sound HUGE! Miles better than my OCD and SD-1. Extremely transparent.
