no barzini'isms in this thread yet? what a let down

I'm on probation. I will say though that I did just get the Electric Eye DVD delivered to my doorstep, love the '86 Turbo Tour, Rob "Sinatra" Halford at his best. I'll never forget them opening with "Out In the Cold", one of those few magical moments in 80's metal memories.

Not worthy of being called a Baird Man.

A few I think weren't mentioned were Rough Cutt (Paul Shortino had a killer voice but never really made it), Vandenberg (first album was good), Steelheart (one of the better lesser known vocalists), Saxon (NWOBHM member - The Eagle has landed is killer), Krokus (Headhunter is great) Kix....more lately The Darkness - Permission to land was a good 80's sounding CD.

I'm ready for some new bands to pick up where the vets left off. I'm sick of Nickelback and feel Metallica is not what they used to be.....It's time for 80's melodic metal to come back. Younger kids are being exposed to it via the video games, etc. I think the people want it but the record companies don't. They don't know what they are doing and can't find the next big music genre. What happened to the tours like Ratt, Bon Jovi, & Y&T or Def Lep and Krokus?

If you want 80's metal that came out back in the day then Id stick with some of the bands that have been mentioned but if you want 80's style metal that has been currently done by other artists, id go to www.nehrecords.com and hit up the catalogue and listen to sound clips and pick and choose what you dig.

As an 80's metal fan (along with many other genre's) There are newer bands that are out 80'ing the old guys LMAO. What I mean is that I have a ton of albums that have come out after the 80's were done that are light YEARS BETTER or right in the pocket of what the BEST bands back in the day have done. I can also say that after hearing some of these records and hearing the quality of the songs that it's almost a Joke when an original band comes out with an album. It's like a total smack in the face actually.

Just my 0.02

Man, I haven't listened to them is years. I've got a couple of their cassettes. Got into them during the Street Ready album.

How about some Florida metal, remember these guys?

Crimson Glory

thanks for the tip gainfreak...I'll check it out....I can't get enough 80's metal....30 years later.
Everything was an event back then...going to the record store to get a certain album ,waiting in line to buy tickets for shows, going to the shows.
Not that way anymore. everything's instant gratification. Looking back it really gave me something to look forward to....going to Record Bar to chat with my buddy Rick who would put the albums on and let me (and everyone else) hear them. It was truly a scene compared to now. I miss it.

You are very welcome and I agree about everything being an advent in the old days instead of the todays instant gratification. Hell, These days you can download a bands album off of the internet before the damn thing is even released

I loved the old days and I really dig a lot of the new stuff, but I think that the record companies really need to rethink how things are getting done especially given the current state the industry is in.

all the best!

Priest didn't exist for me from 1986-1990. Painkiller was the ultimate apology record for those 4 wasted years.

Hey gainfreak...any standouts you have listened to on nehrecords....there are so many to pick from it's hard to start....see some older bands on there with newer releases I didn't know existed....this is great!
