I’m not a Neil Young fan, but I have always loved that song. So much real…

Jewel does a brilliant cover (couldn’t get it to link for some reason - look it up, or help me…). It doesn’t hurt that I think she’s sexy AF 😉

I didn't like the vocals on that but she sure can pick
Im wondering if Neil showed her how to do it.
IIRC they have some professional history together going back to her early days

I’m not seeing that. Great songwriter, but he plays guitar like a drunk chimp.

I know, that’s harsh and he’s a legend… 🤷

I'm not on the level with you guys but I've tried to play that song for 30 years. I go through it almost every time I pick up an acoustic, trying to get every single note right and I haven't done it yet. I do love the song.
Along with cowgirl in the sand, harvest, homegrown and a few others. But he has lost his voice and got off-key performing live.

I can play it. Been playing it a long time. And it's not particularly easy. Many of his songs aren't. After The Gold Rush is pretty simple though and a nice song.

Not a big fan of the man for sure and not even a big fan of his music, but he has a few songs that I would consider great. Down By the River for example. I feel the same way about CS&N. Don't think much of them as people but they wrote a few great songs. And their harmonies are good.

I can’t finger pick. Complete lack of the coordination required to do so. I would love to be able to play that song - and many others. Just can’t do it. Frustrating…

P.S. I’m sympathetic about her dental condition. I have a similar overlapping tooth (my parents could only afford braces for one kid - my sister needed them worse…). I like to think that if she kissed me, we’d lock together like a puzzle and I could commence to touch and squeeze the good stuff… 😄

It’s all about priorities, not “wants”..,
Agreed. In 2006 I prioritized wanting to be able to play Mississippi John Hurt style acoustic always previously thinking my hands were too clumsy to do it. In six weeks I got the basics down and it's paid off ever since. I suppose if you dedicated a focused hour or so per day it could be done that way in about a year. It's about maximizing the use of the time you have available.

Agreed. Without delving too deep, I’ve been continuously employed for over 45 years. The management tides recently shifted abruptly and the ground is shaky. I need 17 months to get to the point where I could comfortably tell everyone to fuck off (Medicare eligibility for me and the (slightly younger [shhh…] Mrs. and all that). Right now, I’m laser focused on ensuring I can keep both of us at the same QOL for the rest of our lives. Guitar strings have gotten expensive…

There are times we have to put the politics aside and just enjoy good music. Crosby was a real turd in life ....but a great voice for harmonies.

It was my generation. But nobody really cares anymore. I'd like to think i do care and it has meaning but after 60+ yrs nobody really gives a Fuck.
