Guys, this isn't the typical deal on these amps with a "retail" price that is absolutely worthless. My Jackson rep told me that retail price is $999 and street price is supposed to be $999. The dealer cost on these doesn't support selling them for the typical 25-40% off. If you find them for $949 you're doing ok on them.

That's just it - every other thing that has the Charvel or Jackson name on it sells street for much less than retail. I'd wager I'm not the only person who saw the $999 retail and instantly converted it to $750-$800 street.

You just have to look at it almost like Carvin. There is no fake inflated retail price on these that you can bargain your dealer down to $949 from. If you want one of these guitars they're $949. It's easy and none of the always enjoyable Guitar Center "I have to go ask my manager" nonsense.

It would be easier if Jackson/Charvel/Fender would have the same pricing structure across all of their gear. Anyone here ever pay retail on a Fender or Squire strat?

I mean what's the difference? They're worth $949 easy if a USA standard strat costs that amount. Should Jackson list them at $1799 so you'll be happy paying the same $949 that you don't want to pay if they're listed at $999?

Man, that sounds like something the dude at guitar center would tell me if they sold Charvels. Thanks for the preview. I didn't set the expectation for not paying retail, Charvel/Jackson/Fender did when they sold every other product that way for the last several years.

If that's something the dude at GC would tell you then he would get kudos for just using common sense. That's not normally a part of their sales pitch though right Pete? :D I mean honestly no sale pitch at all, if an alder bodied USA strat with a vintage trem and Fender brand pickups is worth $1000, isn't an alder bodied USA Charvel with a Floyd Rose and Seymour Duncans worth the same price? To me it is. To tell you the truth I don't even want to see a $650-700 street price USA Charvel. That Charvel name to me needs to be held to a higher level and I'm already skeptical whether a $999 Charvel will be worthy of the name.

You are absolutely correct about Fender/Jackson/Charvel and almost every other company using the worthless retail price and big discount way of selling forever. I don't know why they are changing it now. I strongly suspect it has to do with Guitar Centers planning on going to a no haggle set price style and Fender being their biggest supplier and GC is Fenders biggest buyer so they may be in cahoots here. We'll have to see where this goes. I wouldn't be surprised if Fender just bumps the retail up to $1500 if there is any backlash.

Ah man... :aww:

I really didn't need to see that black tele. I just got over a bout of tele GAS.

I look at it as a rebate from all the fucking gouging FMIC has been doing on the Charvels and Jacksons. :) If you look at what a custom shop Jackson cost before fender took over and now, it's freaking sick. Same thing for their regular production USA stuff, until this series.

I'd rather just have a price laid out there, but when they set the expectation for discounts over years and years, it's not hard to see where people are going to get confused.

It does sound like a GC/Fender thing... I probably spent 6k last year at the local guitar center. Will probably spend much less this year. Why? because I had a guy that would work with me on pricing. I'd go ahead and buy it if it was discounted deep enough. If they are going to charge list, screw it, if I need it new I'll buy it from musicians friend (I know, same company) and get free shipping and not get nailed on sales tax, which is around 8.5% in my neck of the woods.

Only real good thing about the FMIC buyout was getting that dipshit Donnie Wade over to Guild and the hell away from Jackson. He was a marketing manager for Jackson for years - he couldn't rock a partridge family barbeque. He's much better suited to Guild.

Maybe I should buy that guitar and Ebay the gigbag

I wonder if it will say Charvel or Fender on the gig bag

I wonder how much they've added on to the price for the gig bag? Shit, we've got to be talking at least a good hundred bucks if it's an original, new stock gig bag. Just send mine in a cardboard box and charge me an even $850. However, if we can drop the wrenches too....drop it down to $825.00.....cuz I've already got plenty of allen head wrenches.

Nice looking guitars! That style 1 is pretty similar to what I've been playing with building anyway... If they play nice, then I might be all over that!

Well, if Squid Music does start carrying the gig bags, we may be able to get a group buy or something.

Yup...a limited run. We'll need at least a 15 person buy in.

Only if he throws in some swag.

Korean FR copy = :(

Dig the looks though.

I see OFR

Just going by what I read on the Jackson / Charvel forum, could be wrong... Though the spec sheet for the guitars doesn't say "Original Floyd Rose" just says Floyd Rose.

Boy...wouldn't that throw a chink into everyone's wet dream.

From the Charvel forum.

"Hi Guys... Happy Fathers Day from Charvel! Just to clear it up... we put some guitars in some Artists hands in order to get some feedback and get them out in peoples hands...

Also, another point to clear up... the bridge is Korean. It's the same as the RR24 and the Techs at the factory absolutley love them. The guitars come set up with the proper neck angle for a top mount floyd and they have plenty of Pull Back range. The So-Cal has slightly less than the San Dimas due to the nature of the specs.

Everyone enjoy and WE can't wait till you can play these guitars.

- MIke."
