Ok...get my confirmation email. That my amp is delivered to the nearest Guitar center like I asked. This was the Mesa Mark III Blue striper.
I go down there. I get greeted and I asked about picking up my amp. Guy looks kinda blank and says I need to talk to the Manager. So the manager comes walking out from the back looking down and just shaking his head.

Told me when UPS delivered the box it was mangled and glass was falling out of the box. He opened it up and of course all the tubes were broken and the chasis was loose from the head shell. He gets a new set of tubes. We fire up the amp.

Tubes glow.....Nothing. No sound. No buzz or anything. Thing was dead.
He apologizes and asks if I wanted my money back or possibly there was another on the Used gear site.
I told him there was a Red stripe Mark III for the same price. He cancelled my order then called the store the Red stripe was at and they are shipping it out today.
Actually I wanted a red stripe more then the blue but this red one didnt pop up until after I bought the blue. So things are working out in the end.

Glad it worked out for you bro!
Red stripe has the most gain, right?!

GC leaves a lot to be desired sometimes. I ordered a head unit used from the site once. It was actually packed really well. It arrived and had no footswitch (was supposed to come with it), power lights didn't work, Channel 1 didn't function at all...and oh yeah, no one bothered to mention it was a hardwired 220v model and they sent a step down transformer wth it. I promptly took it back, to which they still kept shipping charges...for shipping me an obviously dysfunctional (before shipping) non-US voltage amp. It was only $30, but still.

Sounds like your experience worked out for the better though...

I think the Red is the highest. That was the last one I had several years back. It was a monster of an amp.

Sold it when I got my Diezel though. Only to rebuy one again.

This is my 4th Amp I have gotten thru the Guitar Center used board. The other 3 I had zero issues with the transactions.

Could have been worse.

I have never had any issues with GC. Used to be the best prices until they jacked up shipping over the years.

Only 1 time they forgot to send the power cable for an amp, that was the only issue ever and essentially was not a big deal.

Yeah their prices are hit and miss. Just gotta keep checking the posts daily.
From what I bought in the past couple years their prices have been way better then Ebay (Well at least the stuff I look at was)
But some other things are marked extremely high.
Like the one member here said he bought a Green stripe Mark III for $750
No description or photo. I have seen that several times as well.
Their return policy is great. I been having them open the box up and try the amp in the store to see if its functional.
Glad that was the case today. But he was going to give me a brand new quad of power tubes. That didnt help.

I always had good luck buying from GC used and then returning to the store if I didn't end up keeping it. The last 2 times they even refunded the shipping when I returned it to the store,so it cost me nothing to demo the amp for a few weeks. I even told them when I returned it there was nothing wrong, just didn't dig it. :dunno:

It's dangerous to even go on there, sometimes deals are just sitting there for the taking.I just got a killer deal on a Matrix GT 1000 power amp that should be here tomorrow.

Ha ha indeed. Its my weakness. I found an original 1974 1960A with creambacks for 449. Really good shape. I mean, cmon...... had to find a way to get that one, its worth double that.

Supposedly the Blue Stripe, being the last revision, actually has the most gain but a no stripe has an ass load of gain so I'm not sure anyone would notice... ;)

Green was the last stripe. People get confused because the green stripe was actually aqua and looks kinda blue. Guy I bought my MK3 from thought it was a blue, but it's a green.

I think people put too much thought into the stripes. I've had a red and green stripe at the same time and they sounded identical. Only real difference was the red was a hair darker, and a slight upward pump of the 6600 slider canceled that difference right out.

Yup. The 3 mark iii I had were all different colors. (Never had the blue)
But when I dial it in they all sounded damn near identical for certain.

Thanks man. Can't wait to get it.
I remember having a lot of good fun jam sessions with the mark. :D

Sometimes the universe and planets line right up. Nice one Dan!
