Just made me sad to see that mark iii just sitting there dead In the water. :aww:

I would have offered them $300 as is.

Me too.
Would that of been an option? :D
The amp was wiggling around loose in the headshell but I am sure the damage wasnt too bad. Worth fixing!!
The manager seemed pretty upset with the whole deal and kept apologizing to me.
No biggie....cant miss what you never had. ;)
And getting the red stripe out of it now? Hell ya!

Ehhhhh......I see what you did there.

Should be in next week!! :D

typed Bugera, auto corrected to Blades - hahaha
Actually I DO have a Bugera 5150 copy.  6260 or something like that. Dont sound too bad. ;)
Think is the last year its got about.....30 minutes on it. Bought it as my backup. Just in case. Brand new for $250??

I've actually seen a couple clips of a couple Bugeras that sounds decent...Fluff did one I think.

Cool it worked out in the end.

I just purchased a used tube combo amp from GC in Memphis, and I was concerned how it would be packed. It was packed very well, showed up in the condition I expected.

No GC stores nearby or here on my island. ;)

Yeah Its just like the 5150. Owned a ton of them thru the years.
I just went once without a amp for jamming and swore I would never do it again.
So I bought this when Musicians friend was blowing them out. 250 bucks?
That amp is the best bang for the buck on that level for sure! ;)
Slap a Graphic EQ in the loop. Just brings this thing to life.
Between this amp and my Blades I am surprised my house hasnt burned down.....(As some guys tell me) :gethim:

Nice man!! I am glad to see that Guitar Center is taking their used gear line serious. I have 100 percent confidence in buying from them.

I ordered a 2x12 Bogner cab from GC online - great price. When it showed up the box was so big, sitting on my front porch - no kidding it was 4' x 3' x 3', stuffed full of padding, boxes and other packing material.

Yup. All the amps I bought I had shipped to the store. In the store I opened it in front of the employees in case any obvious damage. 3 out of 4 were overpacked and everything was perfect.
This last one wasn't so fortunate.

Here's a pic of a JVM410HJS that I bought used from GC. It didn't work when it was fired up -

Here's a pic of a Quickrod that I bought used from GC. It worked but was quite beaten up, still worked though. They only offered me $100 back or something and I told 'em to stick it. The footswitch was damaged and the headshell was cracked. They're idiots.

Oh man those are horrible pack jobs!
That's why I say have it shipped to a local store (if possible)
And open it up in front of employees. That's what happened yesterday.
I just refused it and was given full refund on the spot.
I know this isn't convenient for all. But it saved me a lot of headaches yesterday.

I miss my red stripe sometimes... It's a great amp.

Congrats and I'm glad it ended up working out well for you. Could have been much worse - as in, you didn't want anything else in their used inventory.

I've always had pretty good luck with GC in general and their used gear specifically. Not exactly the best deals all the time but I bought a Mesa Rectoverb head from them several years ago and the reverb was borked and it was missing its footswitch. Now granted I helped them troubleshoot the problem as it was sitting in the loud room and they were certain it was tubes. I proved to them it was not tubes.

They let me have it for $490 and through in a F30 footswitch :inlove:

Those pack jobs Chum are horrendous. The one thing I've learned is that some GC's (managers and crew) are great and some GC's (managers and crew completely suck. Like most everything - if the manager is good then the rest is good whether it be GC or McDonalds

how does this happen so much with ups? i just had an amp shipped with fedex and there are caution delicate instrument stickers all over the thing.

they do it on purpose. Ungrateful employees dont know how good they got it. good pay, medical, dental, shit. And they still break your stuff.
ive had several broken amps.

It's funny. I've had items shipped to store and they arrive well packed and whole. If I have it shipped to my house it's a 50/50 chance. I once bought a used 4x12 from GC and they only charged me $12 for shipping ?!? It arrived with the casters missing though. They removed them so it would fit in the box better and they turned up missing somehow. They were always good about refunding me including the shipping charges on the messed up stuff.

Yeah I had a 4x12 shipped up from the south to my local gc in Michigan. Pretty sure it was $25.00 or less.
Had them open the cab up so I can see if the speakers were still original. They did no problem.
That was my 2nd Lynch Box cab with the eminence Super V's in it. Stole that cab.

Took back the Red stripe that had issues of blowing fuses. (went thru 3 of them within an hour)
And Did just what you mentioned.
At first they told me $600
Said no way. Got to get a full quad of tubes and who knows whats wrong with the amp.
Offered them $400 and they took it.
So I got the broken Blue striper. Power section still good since all the tubes glowed when powered up.
This is the one that will be going to California back to Mesa to get reworked and modded.
Guess things happen for a reason. ;)
