So I had had been running my new Mesa Mark IV through my Splawn 2x12 It's loaded with Scumback M75/J75 combo , which are basically
high power greenbacks. It sounded much better than I expected, but I when think Mesa Mark IV I think V30 cab.
So I was looking around and wouldn't luck have it the other guitarist in the band I'm playing with is friends with someone who was selling a mint Friedman 2X12 with V30's.
Sounds amazing, these cabs are pretty kick ass.
Interestingly enough , my Splawn Head? not so much, that head works great with Greenback type speakers. I was hoping it would work with the V30's
so I could move the Splawn cab (no need for 2 2X12's) but looks like I'm going to keep the Splawn . way too upper mid spikey. the M75's and the Splawn cab itself is a lot darker than the Friedman cab. It compliments the Splawn head really well.

My JCM800 cab is loaded with Scumback M75/J75's as well.

Congrats

Never played one. I would say most Splawn owners don't care for V30's either, including me. My Splawn 2x12 has Splawn Small Blocks (based on a 55w Greenback so probably pretty similar to your cab) but my Mesa Trad 4x12 has Mesa V30's. Great upgrade @kmanick

ya my Splawn Cab came with the Small blocks , but I swapped them out for the Scumbacks. I found them to be too dark on stage , I had a hard time hearing myself sometimes, it always sounded "muted". I have 25 watt Small blocks as well so that may have been part of the problem right there. Funny thing is at home just jamming alone, the small blocks sound killer.
Still haven't gigged my 4X12 yet. :( hopefully soon, we have a couple of outdoor gigs already booked this summer, would love to open it up outside.
