Well, it's out! And I find it a Goliath Turd. Good vocals, great tones, Hunting is a madman as usual, but it's weak as fuck. Been through it 2-3 times and it does absolutely nothing for me. Huge disappointment.

Why do these old bands still release albums?

Man sadly agreed. New releases have been largely kind of ass the last few years in metal

I went and looked up this track off of the album. Oh no - I just made it to the violin part. The bass has a solid sound and tone to it. Not the worst song I have ever heard. I could at least like, listen to this without grimacing beside whomever was forcing me to listen to it, but I would not ask for it to be played again.

The second half of the album is better than the first, I thought. But I figure they had a contractual requirement and just pushed this out the door.

I finally listened to Megadeth's Tipping Point afterward and it was better. More of the same pop metal that Dave has dabbled in after Rust in Peace, but I'd pick it over Goliath anyday.

They blew their songwriting load with Tempo of the Damned, and over the years haven't been giving it enough L-Arginine/L-Citrulline in between.

Only heard the first 3 singles so far but yeah, those were pretty fucking weak and well below standard. Title track wasn't bad, liked some parts in it but overall, meh. I haven't fully enjoyed an Exodus CD since Atrocity Exhibition A.
Exhibit B’s the last one I really dug. Tapped out after that, not a Zetro fan. He sounds like he’s literally singing through his nose… Admittedly I only skimmed through Goliath but won’t be digging deeper.

Goliath sucks. It has its moments, but they are few and far between. I haven't bought a single song off of it. I usually cherry pick songs from albums and buy the good ones and sync to my MP3 player in the car. NOTHING on this album was worth the $1.29.

That Megadeth album is garbage too. Weak AF. The new Lamb Of God leaves a lot to be desired as well. Last good metal album that came out was the new Coroner. Some of the new Dust Bolt is nice and thrashy.

OK I'm going deep here. More of a benchmarking question. Please forgive me because I took a lot of psych classes. One day I was playing for a few of my friends that were a few years younger than me (younger brother's crowd). One of the kids says, "dude do you know any songs written after 1993?"

I realized that I grown up on classic rock and 80's rock and metal. By the early to mid 90's life had become much more complex with work, kids, big responsibilities, etc. I grew up and started my family broke so I've never had any time where I wasn't under the gun until recently here. So I haven't connected with new music in the same way I did as a kid during the "easier" phase of life 70's to early 90's.

So if you don't mind, does that fit your experience also? Does everyone have their own "golden era" of music based on the patterns of their life? I know of a lot of bands where I dug their early albums but didn't click with some of their later stuff. I'm just wondering if it is also function of having to grow up?:dunno:

nothing is gonna be like when youre a kid and things are still easy and youre not shaped by life events, i never just stopped listening to new music at any point though. the newer bands and albums i really get into like the old days are fewer and farther between, but they are still there, and now with streaming theres literally everything from the past ive not heard. Gone are the days of being immersed with five albums at once though

The new Dark Angel was also a flop, sad to say.
New Coroner’s one of the best releases of the year imo.

Compared strictly to Goliath, it is definitely a better album. But that's just relative. I agree, it was weak and pretentious, there's even a song where Dave is singing about God and I was like "wtf"?

I hate saying this...But most of the "old school" thrash bands just sound tired, like they ran out of ideas.
