Kind of in the middle. It's basically a tweaked SLO if ya had to compare. A bit less gritty. A bit more modern.

depends on what mode you are in and how you use the fat switch really. It can be tight/razor sharp or give you some sag/compression, depending on what you are looking for. With mine, I tend to leave it on the blue mode, which is super tight/crisp without compression/saturation. That mode kind of makes it feel like a mix of and Ultralead and an Ubershall. The fat switch will round out the tone, I tend to leave it off.

This is no shit, I was going to pm you just the other day after I got done playing on my ARES to tell ya you should really try the KSR stuff! I had a feeling it would be something you'd be into. Glad your digging it! The KSR has a very unique sound indeed and the feel is something I really enjoy as well. The build quality is awesome too. The ARES is easily one of my favorites and actually has my Savage collecting a little dust

Yeah Mike... you are correct sir. It's has the tones I prefer. Nice and tight. Definitely unique and it's own amp. Not a rehash or repack of another circuit. It deserves the praise it gets. It's big, modern, heavy, dark... but still tight under any amount of gain. That's the huge difference with all the Mesa Rectos and Recto variants it has spawned. No mush, sag, flub, lag, or delay when playing the heavy detuned stuff. No pedal needed to push it either. You can hear the Soldano/Mesa Recto DNA in there... but KSR takes it in another direction and to the next level. Kinda like what I'd expected from Soldano if they ever decided to due a more modern channel switcher.

It's a different and unique voicing. Soldano SLO/Mesa Recto DNA... with a bit of that tight Fryette UL dry, tight throaty roar. Rest assured if you play any sort of heavy, modern metal... you'll like it. It works. You don't need to sit there all day tweaking or swapping out different pedals/pickups to push it... plug in and rock. That's it. And it stays tight (if set that way) which is money for me. I'm not generally a fan of the loose, saggy, flubby amps. But I like lots of gain and bass on tap... not that I have to use it all, all the time.

The bright switch sharpens the attack and makes the amp feel tighter and seems to add a bit of gain.
The voice switch seems to change the mid frequencies; adds/removes low mids and attack.
The fat switch gives three unique feels to the low end response.

The amp can be set up to have many different feels IMHO. Throw a clean boost in front and the amp just flat out roars. (and i'm talking ARES, can't speak about the Gemini, but I'm betting the dip switches produce a very similar effect in either amp)

Yep, I have both the Ares and Gemini and they have the same lead channel. The Ares is just a stripped down version with different transformers. But the circuits are identical. Because of that, the Ares is more aggressive and angry. The Gemini is a little thicker and darker.

If not, you should DEFINITELY try one out. Based on all the clips I've heard from ya and your posts on different amps and tones you like, I'm 110% sure you'd dig the KSR stuff.

Yeah oddly enough I have never tried one. I will definitely be checking them out at NAMM for sure. I'd likely go with a Gemini if I ever nabbed one. Every time I hear one I know they'd be amps I would dig for sure.

The Colossus doesn’t have the violet & red modes on the lead channel which use 5 gain stages... the Colossus has 4 gain stages. The Gemini is more straight up metal... and the Colossus has more features and channels.
