New Mastodon Album

I listened Hardlore's podcast with Bill Kelliher last week. You can tell he's angry and still sorting through his feelings on everything Brent related.

Who wouldn't be angry? That's the damning thing about addiction. You begin to hate every good thing in your life and shit all over it. Yes, Brent is dead, but these guys are left behind attempting to deal with 25 years of baggage.

My nephew committed suicide 5 years ago today, at age 24, and I'm still pissed about it. I don't know if I'll ever correctly process the hurt.

i just cant with these dudes anymore, it just sounds like some sort of circus fun house music that drives me nuts after a few songs. Not really heavy anymore, the drummer is just way too busy all the time and theres no groove, the singing is not good :dunno: I do like their first couple albums, and they are one of those bands i want to like probably for nostalgia reasons, but one spin of this album was enough
Spot on with how I feel about them. Brann is a great drummer and his style was cute for the first few albums but his playing is like Keith Moon on crack. He can't keep a groove going to save his life. Also, not interested anymore with Brent gone. Still love those early records though.

I’ve always liked his drumming and considering the state of drums in heavy music I greatly appreciate that you’re hearing real drums, not quantized and snapped nightmare fuel.
