It’s actually tomorrow but anyway… I’m kinda excited about it… pod pro xt, avid 11rack, tweed rack case, furman rack power conditioner as well…. For a killer deal imo. Picking it up in the morning….really looking forward to getting these. Always wanted to try the 11rack and I have always gotten good sounds out of the pod pro rack units. So yeah…yay me…🤪😂

Has a tweed covering but does not appear to be a classic Fender amp. 🤔

I love my Pod XT Pro. i have the pedal as well. Its great for headphone playing when i dont wanna piss the wife off.

Dude, try the SLO patch with the tube screamer and V30 cab, shit is badass
I am gonna plug my Ux 1 in, I remember the chorus pedal trick (you don't hear chorus) but I have to remember it exactly...basically you run it almost off but 50% mix...I'm gonna hook it up.

Happy noughties rack gear day!

I never did get much I liked out of the POD or POD XT but it wasn't horrible.

Some of the heaviest prog metal records I’ve ever heard were recorded on pods and mastered. Gus G said one of Mystic Prophecies albums were all pod. They didn’t have that weird sound right after you pick that most modern modelers have today.

Many people are rediscovering old PODs, the cab sims were bad...but with new IR or even used as preamps the the cab sims bypassed, a lot of cool tones

welcome to the dark side

How did you run it? SS power amp, Tube? What cab?
It's been 20 years, but I think I tried a 2150, a Hammer 320, a Crown, and a couple cabs - a Splawn with Eminences and probably a Bogner Shiva open back. Just didn't dig it - there was an enormous lack of dynamic headroom and it was built into the preamp. Maybe it could have been fixed with an upward expander and a high-headroom tube power amp, but I never tried that combination.

There really wasn't any reason to explore more when I could just pair a Triaxis, CAE or Soldano pre with the 320 and get something fun.

I am an old POD geek. The cab sims held these things back, it was a big thing early on. I'd see guys running them with the cab sims on, into nice 4x12s and a power amp...and wondering why it sounded washed. Once one turns the cabs off and re-eq's the preamps, they slam on tube power amps and even SS amps.

Back in the day, I had a full ADA guitar and bass rig. For guitar I also had an Alesis quadraverb, and 4 of the 2x12 vertical splitstakck cabs

Here's the final guitar rack before the final sell off; I still have the MP-2:

and the full bass rig:

I remember reading that. I'm like 95% sure the cab sim was off (bear in mind it's been a while...) because with a real cab I can't see why I'd have it on and I never got as far as trying it with a PA. Unless I was using it wrong which is possible.

The other guitarist in one of my bands used it. We swapped stuff to try it out. He couldn't see the appeal of my CAE and I didn't get along with his PODs. Just one of those things I guess.

What do you mean by weird people pick attack sound?

What do you mean by weird people pick attack sound?

earlier digital modelers didn't respond well to pick attack; the lack sag, bloom, and overall lack of responsiveness felt uniform, dull and lifeless; some even had a noticeable latency making it feel even more disconnected. then there were the aliasing issues...

you'd lose all sense, feel and nuance in your playing vs tube amps.

modern modelers are much more responsive and don't have aliasing issues

edit: it's why even if the modeler sounded good, it didn't have the feel and responsiveness that many tube amp players were used to, and wanted. it kept many tube amp players away from digital modeling for years or maybe forever?
