The last gigging I did was 13 years ago. While it was only a cover band, the late nights really began taking a toll on me after several years. One day I just woke up and knew I was done. Informed my wife, quit the band, and sold off my gear. Didn't think I would ever look back.

That was in 2006. But last week I got the itch, answered a Craigslist ad, and found myself in a new band. Was playing the only guitar I had left (an old crappy LP copy that had been stored away in my closet) into a Katana I had picked up for the audition. Wow, solid state has come a long way in 15 years.....but I digress. ;)

I knew I needed a Floyd equipped guitar for this band, and after scouring both Reverb and Ebay I found this one several days ago. I believe it is from 1989, but I don't know for sure. No serial number. It just arrived Fedex, and I can not believe how good the condition is. Zero fret wear too. I had one just like it (in brown) in the early 2000's and it was one of my favorites back then. The early eclipses aren't very pretty, but they are great players and the old German Floyds really stay in tune well.

Stoked to get it home and plug it in. :D

Man, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I actually think this is one of nicest ones I've seen...I'm not well versed in Eclipses, but I always thought they were pretty much LP copies. This has a whole Junior vibe which looks awesome, love the color too!!

Congrats getting back into a new band, I'm in the same boat, never thought it would happen again and just started back up. With a Katana to start with as well lol...isn't it crazy how good some of the cheaper gear has gotten?

First...mmm...boobs  i love'em!

Secondly...gas never really goes away does it.?

I like that a lot actually, the color is a beauty, and the arm pocket on the horn looks super-comfortable. Are the pups original, what are they?

HNGD!

I think the pups are Seymour Duncan Blackouts. I thought these all shipped with either Dimarzio passives or EMG 81/85's but I could be wrong. The SD's were weak and thin sounding when I plugged it in. Thought maybe someone permanently tapped them, (or wired it up wrong) so I got my screw driver and soldering iron out and checked things out under the hood. The wiring was all jacked up, and the battery connector literally fell off in my hands. Got that fixed up and it sounds great now.......although at some point I will install a ToneZone/AirZone set in it like I do most of my guitars.

There is one thing so far that concerns me though. The neck is at the end of truss setting (loose side). It sets up OK, but the truss nut is literally loose. I can tighten it just fine, but the neck relief is correct the way it is. Usually when there are truss issues it's the other way around......and the truss is maxed out. I don't know if there is a way to address this, or if I should just leave it alone since it plays OK. Thinking maybe over time the humidity around here may help straighten it out. Other than the truss rod issue, it plays beautifully, and even with aggressive bar acrobatics the Floyd is spot on.

Congrats on your new purchase and for getting back into it.

GAS is a bitch.

I like your plan of leaving the truss rod alone and welcome to RT.

My gas is unending. 311 seems to be the only guy on here that has some control. Lol.

311 love ya bro. Lol
