Yeah, the “L” vs “R” in Japan. The struggle is real. It’s almost like a soft “d”. I’ve always thought the neck is more critical than the body for tone.
If you look on YouTube for “Black Smoke Sigma”, there actually sill quite a few videos. To me, it’s the perfect balance of vintage and modern. The bridge pickup is probably among the best I’ve heard, and honestly I’m questioning everything I know about pickups at this point. It’s an 8k bridge that doesn’t sound weak when split. It sounds like a single coil when split, and when in full HB mode has a warmth and low mids presence that I have never experienced in an 8k pickup sound thick. You can ad warmth easily with scatter winding, but you loose some tightness. I’ve just never heard a warm, chewy, big sounding 8k humbucker.
