Man...you're killing me with those pics.     Those are very nice....and appear to hold value quite nicely.

The more i open this thread, and see my pics, the more i remorse. Although, I've not sent it back yet...it's just sitting in the box. So maybe i put another pup in it.. I don't want to dump a bunch of added money into this thing. Maybe a DSD, or DS3, would get me where I want.

You got a very nice guitar. The fact that it's current production doesn't make it any less nice. If you want other pups, you'll have no problem flipping your stock ones on eBay or here to offset most of the cost of the new ones. You may not have a lot of options, since WG pups have their own special shape and length of feet. But I think DiMarzio makes plenty that will drop in and Wolfetone still has the template for the ones he made for me, which will drop right into yours. Someone else here, I forget who, had some other pups made to put into his MIM Wolf. I think they were PRS pups and he later sold the guitar here.

the more i read, the more i realize the bridge pup in the MIM's were the least desirable component. The consensus is, very dark. So...i'll likely be swapping the pup and keeping the axe. I appreciate all the feed back.

The pickups in the EVH Wolfgangs are A2 magnets. The Peavey WG pickups were A5 or ceramic, can't remember for sure.
Anyway maybe the A2 is where the "dark, muddy" tone is coming from.

I've got a DSD in one of my guitars and I love it. It's a ceramic....so it makes sense.

I love my WG's but had to change out my pickups too. I am using a Duncan Custom in the bridge and a '59 in the neck on both of mine. You'll need to do a little work to get the Duncans to fit such as rounding of the base plate so it will fit in the pickup cavity. Not sure why but I noticed most of the wolfgang specials seem to have the strings favoring the high E side of the neck. It is like that on most of them so maybe it was designed that way?

FWIW, I just sold a pair of Gibson 57 Classic on Reverb abou eight hours after I listed them. IIRC, when I sold my WG pups, it took less than a day too. Just price them right and you'll easily sell them for enough to make a dent in the cost of your new pups.

I really appreciate the feedback with this. It shouldn't be this way, but I was damn near panicked to Think I'd bought something only to hate it.

I ordered a Dimarzio Super 3 today. Hope to have it in Friday/sat. Then a Wolfgang bridge pup is hitting the market!

Thanks again.

Congrats. I love everything about those guitars except the width. They are just to small for me. I wish I could make one work
