Not Even Drunk and Just Bought Two Guitars

Sold my Gibson Les Paul Special and just ordered up a used Mexi Nashville Tele that looked interesting. Someone had done a new pick guard returning it to being a 2 pickup guitar (my preference) and it has a slightly recessed heel.
Also decided to try a used Epi IBGC LP Special Double Cut. The one with the Gibson shape headstock. Had to keep P-90’s in the stable.
The neck on my Gibson Special was a thick 50’s neck and I just couldn’t get used to it for all over the neck. Got to try one of the Epi’s and it had a more regular C neck and actually played really well. I kinda liked the upper fret access on it too.
When I demo’d the Epi, they had the Gibson version there and they literally felt the same. But the Epi sounded a fair bit darker, even with the USA pickups and electronics, so some electronic changes might have to happen when I get it.
My Gibby LP special sounded really good, so hopefully the Epi can get there.

I was a little torn on the Tele over a USA one that was priced well but with a rosewood board. I just really wanted a maple fretboard for a Tele and this was over $300 less. What’s cool is both come with hard cases. Whether the Tele is a keeper or not will be a total crapshoot but that’s why I love getting used stuff from GC.

Trying hard to at least get guitars that fill a hole vs. getting another Humbucker Gibson. The Mexi roadworn Strat I got recently has been a revelation through my 5150 (90’s sig). That amp and it’s EVH thing really make sense when you play a bolt on neck guitar with lower output pickups. I’d say it’s one of the best amps you could get if you want to cover clean to crunch to heavy with a Strat.
