Picked up a NOS MIM Strat from The Music Zoo yesterday. Have 3 days to decide if I'm keeping it. Plays great. Would probably change the pickguard and pickups. I got it for a song. They still have 2 left. Any of you guys have one that you've hot-rodded? What did you change?

Very nice! I havent had one myself but a friend of mine rocked one none stock for a few years. He seemed to like it.

I have one that i bought new 10 years ago. had the frets leveled and nut set up properly.

I upgraded the wiring, CTS Pots, Shielded the cavity, Seymour Duncan H-S-H with Pearly Gates, Antiquity, and a 59, Wilkinson Trem. My cheapest guitar, but i also play it the most, as it is my home practice guitar. The guitar is so broken in and plays great!!!

Cool. I measured the posts room be 2 7/8" spacing. The Schaller is 2 15/16" so maybe I was a bit off and it'll drop in.

I was planning on ordering a Kiesel Bolt with a Floyd. I still may do that. But this was brand new and $450 out the door so I think I'm good. Now I have a player that I can upgrade if I want. I didn't get a case but I'm not complaining.

Yup. I hotrodded mine. Only original part left is the body.

Check out Mark Day's MIM strat that he modified, on his you tube channel . He talks about what they switched out , and how well it plays .

I can see vids where he uses it but not alot of info about what he changed.

Thanks though. I'm looking.

Dave

I believe he switched out the pickguard and switched to a Schaller Floyd Rose and had it professionally setup .
