I’m sure no one here was feeling anything negative about guys making major money, playing 3 chords and random noise through a Rat in ‘93, as everyone abandoned and maligned any technical prowess on the guitar and the word “metal” was excised from any way of describing heavy music.
Or how many were the new guys in ‘93 that hate this current shit?

This guy has some of the worst vocals ever. Damn I wish Motley Crue would go away. I am trying to be nice, and found one that did not immediately stab you in the ears - but it's definitely not good. His vocals remind me of when you try to sneak a fart out but don't quite make it and get a bit of a 'squeaker':

Love Deftones. And yeah, it almost takes courage to write an actual song these days. Probably is an element of feeling like it’s all been done and not wanting to go there. But I’m sure there a still some good melodies out there to be had.

Plus a song is a song . We all like songs no matter what . I agree I feel it takes courage and young ppl especially are afraid of songs with verses and choruses that are catchy . A lot my students say anything with melody is gay . The youngins always say that sounds like the 80s when I suggest things about songwriting . When did melody become gay ? The invention of death metal ? I love death metal but my death metal friends are afraid to admit if they like a rock or punk song . Gate keeping I guess

The clean snappy stuff is all the rage and I hate it too but the lead shred is very Vai inspired so surprised you don't like it as most here love the Vai. I personally think Vai is way overrated and I get bored of his style quick. Much prefer his rythm playing.

That bit was fine. Wasn’t exciting, but I wasn’t offended. It’s that clean stuff that sounds like every other guy lately. Can’t stand it.
