Hello all,

I have had a chambered/F-Hole tele with P90s for a little while now. The stock ceramic Roswell P90s weren't bad, but I replaced them once I acquired a set of Epi Pro 90s from a client during a build and put those in. They have been pretty rocking, but had a P90 build in mind, and Planet Tone obliged my request and built them!

The neck is their '1956' with an A4 magnet, and wound a bit hotter than usual.

The Bridge is their '1956 Hot' with an A4 magnet, and wound a bit hotter than usual.

This guitar is running a Vol/Vol setup with 500k pots with no tone and a 3-way toggle.

Sounds EXACTLY like I hoped they would! What a stellar set of pickups.

I enjoy them on clean settings, crunch, and intense gain alike. Always clear and tight. Thick bottom end, with present mids, and a top end that has snap but also a bit of girth. The neck pickup is really balanced sounding and never gets woofy or wooly, even with gain. The bridge is just a dream to play with gain, and is also fun on clean. Pinch harmonics scream out and there is a lot of clarity and warmth, without feeling loose or too much anywhere - everything has a really solid balance with a thicker, vocal midrange that always remains clear. Fast picked leads never have that 'ice-pick' attack, with a lush clarity and smooth feel. The rhythms sound tight and full, never giving you flub, and responding to picking dynamics extremely well. The middle position has that certain 'quack' that is just what I want to hear.

I could not be happier with this set of P90s. One of my favorite pair of pickps ever!!!

I'm calling this my 'G90' set since I designed them (G comes from my last name).

Cranked em and was very pleased with the results through my Marshall and Rivera.

The cleans are so lush, hard to believe they stay so direct and tight with gain.

Couldn't be happier with this set.

UPDATE:

I ended up swapping the neck on the guitar these were installed in and wow - the guitar sounds like it has had 5 blankets lifted off of it. The pickups are so clear and in your face that I HAVE to change the elctronics/wiring.

Currently it is running 500k pots with no tone - swapping that up to 250k with .022 to see how that goes.

The pickups still sound awesome - but direct into your face like that with the new neck - it can be a bit too much of a kick in the teeth.

Went with a 260k pot in vol and 240k in tone along with a .022 pio cap with 50s wiring.

This thing sounds wonderful.

It has a midrange to it that keeps everything present and clear and tight, but has a certain smoothness present throughout the entire EQ range. The neck pickup does not get boomy, just like I was hoping. This is a semi hollow and you know sometimes they can muddy up the freq range? Not here. The bridge is thick and rich with just the right amount of snap up top and thump down low. Really diggin this guitar more than ever.
