So, I have never been one to do much in the way of swapping pick ups, I only think I have done it on 2 other guitars before. Not saying I have anything against it either.
I keep working on a lot of Ozzy era Zakk Wylde stuff and the good era Metallica, so I decided to snag some EMGs, now I have them here… I can’t decide on which guitar to put them in.
The two contenders…
Option A: Gibson Faded Flying V.
Option B: Gibson 61’ SG regular production model.
I thought about a couple of other guitars, but I want to be able to swap tunings easier so that knocks my FR guitars out, then the only other HB guitars I have is my PRS custom 24 and my Les Paul… (which I’m still waiting on being sent back to me).
I like the neck on the V a lot more than the SG, and I really like the sound of both of them, but the SG has that whole 60s/70s retro vibe to it, but the V has an aggression I don’t have on other guitars.
The V I have a replacement pick guard for, so that would be pretty easy to swap but I don’t know if I’ll have to make a little extra room in the cavity for a battery, which the SG I don’t believe I would need to do.
I need help deciding… or should I just bite the bullet and start low balling the Epiphone bullseye’s on reverb?
