I use a fulltone fulldrive 2 mosfet with my Splawns when I am using them. They get along great for me. I feel that it does a little better than the run of the mill tubescreamer.

so a month from the last post on this mutha-of-a-thread ...

and i'm still infatuated with this guitar...

any revelations since last post?

is it great out of the box, or is a pup swap the idea,,,and to provide some perspective, i'd say in the LP range of tone.

thanks guys!

I had a custom but made for mine, the compensated nut was wonky, and I now actually have better intonation. I've actually been on the fence about the pickups, but if I do change, I'll probably go SD Custom/'59.

Plays VERY well. Outstanding quality.
What's wrong with the pups?

I don't have the guitar, but I've played Schecter pups extensively, and IMHO they are all far above regular SDs in terms of sound quality and dynamics. That's why I'm always curious when I hear "i want to swap them for a couple of seymours"

Duncan Customs are my favorite pickup. But, as I mentioned, I was on the fence about replacing the Schecter Pasadenas, as I've grown to like them quite a bit. In my case, there's always that thought in the back of my head "I wonder what a Custom would sound like in this". But, I'm content, for now.

I like the Custom series from Duncan, not a super fan of the C5, but the others are all good, and I did have fun with the Custom Custom I had in my fat strat. But the Suhr SSH and the Schecter Pasa Classic I used after that were by far my faves.

I had a Solo-6 Custom with the Custom/Custom, and that was a killer sounding pickup as well.

At the price, you could buy two and put Customs in one....the time I've had to play guitar recently, it's been with the Solo II and both times it made me play for 30-40 mins without putting it down, just flat out fun to play.

I think the Neck pickup is a little too dark/tubby...but I think I can address with a little pickup height, maybe lower it a bit?

Such a beautiful axe...
One of you guys willing to put up a short clip... anything...GnR, Ac/D.C., 38 special.

I appreciate the dialogue...I've read elsewhere the bridge pup is 59-ish, but better...whatever that means.

The Pasadena should be plenty bright, never hear complains about it being dark or tubby. It's picky tho, so the pickup height could indeed be a reason

Not very, the Plus version in this guitar is definitely hotter and more Gib 57 classic plus like, with a personal twist.

I probably also have far to much gain/compression dialed in :D

Depends on the amp, the bridge pickup shouldnt handle super distorted tones that good as well, they're more hard rock/heavy metal kind of pickups. For the brootz SanAndreas and Brimstones are far better
