Had a few minutes before work for a short clip. It's hard to record this thing accurately. Not quite what it sounds like in the room, but close enough.
I gotta say, the amp sounds better with the fucked up stock tubes. These new tubes that bias up properly sound softer and more fizzy. Still working on figuring that out.

Sounds great!

Put together another clip. I think this one sounds better. This time through a Mesa cab with V30s. Sorry for the repetitive riffs, I was just trying to mess with the EQ a bit to see what would sound good in the clip.

Sounds great! Do you find this to be a bright amp? I notice your treble and presence are dialed pretty low.

I typically dial the treble/presence really low on all my amps. But yes, this amp can get bright if you push the treble over 11:30 or so. I personally like a darker sound.

I'm digging the tone you are getting fo sho. Congrats!

Sounds excellent. I think I am sold on it, if I can find one. Glad to see you are enjoying it

Both clips sound good, but I'm really liking the first one.

Yup, two different cabs. First one is Bogner 4x12 with G12H-75 Creambacks and second one is Mesa 2x12 with V30s. Wish I had a Mesa 4x12. But nobody in my area carries them to try out.

Great clip, that amp has a helluva growl!

Just pull the trigger on a Mesa 4x12. It's darker, smoother and very sweet sounding with a ton of thump. Get the traditional for the tightest response. I couldn't believe how good V30s could sound until I bought a traditional. Then I bought a Rivera, and then a Bogner...they all killed with the Rivera sounding almost Identical to the Mesa and the Bogner being a little warmer, vintage sounding. That's when I knew the cab construction was the most important thing when picking a V30 cab. I never knew V30s could sound so good.

I really want to be able to A/B the traditional vs. the other one. Fuck.. I live an hour from Mesa Boogie's factory. I should just drive up there with my amp! It's funny that I'm so close to Mesa, yet no music stores anywhere around me carry their products.

Called Mesa and they don't have a showroom or anything. You can stop by for a factory tour, but no way to demo a cab or amp.

If it’s a super charged Hiwatt, I bet that amp would sound awesome through a Fryette Fat Bottom cab with Fane F70s. I’m very close to finding out. Lol

As in you might buy a Super-Hi? lol do it. But before you do, PM me.

Yeah it probably would sound good through one of those. However when it comes to cabs, I try to make sure it will work with more than one amp and a Mesa 4x12 will work with my KSRs as well. Not sure how they'd pair with a Fryette cab. I also want to try it out before I buy. Would have to find a used one local. Otherwise gotta buy sight unseen.

That said, I already have a Mesa 2x12 and I figure the 4x12 Traditional will sound great. Sweetwater has one in stock with free shipping (and no sales tax). So I might just have to bite the bullet and do it. Then unload my 2x12 locally.

I called some local shops to see about one and most people actually laughed and said they haven't had anybody interested in a 4x12 in like 10 years.

Dude, you could play Tool riffs all day long and that would be fine by me... ;)

In my defense there were no Tool riffs in that video. :)

Yeah. I’ve been thinking about it. Your comments about the bias range kind of turns me off a little though.

I had a Gemini and it sounded best through the Fryette cab. That’s in comparison to cabs from Diezel, Bogner, Friedman and Wizard. I’ve actually been thinking about a Mesa traditional too since I recently got another Triple Recto. I can’t imagine it’d be better than the Fryette cab though

This is the first thing I noticed.

The clips sound good though.

It's no brighter than a typical Marshall. I'd say it's actually darker than, say, a JCM800.

I like brighter/more open amps. I usually have the treble and presence cranked up. Probably why I love the Wizards so much. I have a feeling that this amp may be right up my ally.
