He used it during this last tour with kings x and living color
his tone was amazing live when I saw him, absolutely killer

I believe Nuno took the only two production proto types on the road for the recent Extreme world tour ( all concerned freaked out because they were the only two in existance!!)
He was adament he wanted to run the amps as hard as he could in a gigging enviroment to iron out any issues early -which he did.
I hear he wants to have every production amp out of the box as a gig reliable amp and producing (his) tone.
I guess,as we all know, the quality of tubes has dropped big time over the last 18 months world wide so the only real variable will be the tubes but according to Doug REYNOLDS (Randalls boss) Randall are going to great lengths to grade all their tubes. I do know this to be true because their discarding a fair perentage of the tubes and only using the decent quality ones.
Lately Ive seen new AC30s with dud rectifier tubes ,near new Messa's with dud rectifiers , etc etc.
As for the tone on the NB King 100, its definately got its own (NUNO'S) sound, and a killer on all channels.
It does what its supposed to do,straight forward to use without to much fuss but will balls.
The pre amp produces a kind of Fender meets Marshall JCM800 sound but with way more gain and a big tight bottom end.

As Nuno stated ,he always reckoned he was not going to do a signature amp unless it was just as he wanted.
He had spoken to a number of designers over time without really finding what he wanted and when he did,he spent a LONG time working on this project to get it right.

mmmmmmmmm fender meets marshall. can you say soldano. say it 3 times real fast. i wouldnt buy any sig gear period but thats me.

Hey,one mans food is another mans poison,Im not really sure you could say a Soldano has a real clean channel to speak of so Im not really quite sure what you mean.
I could say it 3 times real fast and still hear no clean sound out of one . As for hearing artists state they want a quality sound out of an item they associate themselves with -is that a bad thing ??!! I would think the average punter out there would rather some quality control that than buy a run of the mill amp although there some good amps out in average punter land.
I would have to say the proof is in the product ,go try one when available and then review it !!!!
As for not buying a signature amp,are you saying that if a signature series amp produced a sgreat sound you really liked ,you wouldn't buy it on principle ? Kinda seems defeat the purpose of playing guitar dosn't it ?

not what i was saying/meaning
1. the clarity of the overdrive on an slo is a combo of fender/marshall.hence the clarity part.
2. i will not purchase signature gear because i am not looking for someone else`s tone nor am i going to line the pockets of an artist who is already lucky as hell to be doing what he or she does. ;)

Re your point of a SLO being a combo of the above,Id agree with that,Id have to say my comment re the NB 100 KING being sort of "Fender meets Marshall" is probably a bit over generalised as there is alot of very different tones in the amp to be had apart from Nuno's sound.
As for not wanting somone elses tone,no matter what amp you play, someones already been there before you or I.
Nearly every amp built today uses basically the same output section, that of a Fender bassman which was originally copied from the RCA radio handbook back in the 1930s.
Alot of the artists who have "made it" have usually done many years of hard yards without any bucks rolling in so I don't really mind them getting somthing back. Most cases luck aint got much to do with it,mostly (not always) talent and hard work got them to that point.
