I dunno, I think it should be MKIIC+ or MKV??, or, Diezel VH4 or Einstein?? or something like that. Both amps def have their place, neither one will cover the other or be the same as the other. People ask me all the time why I have a Diezel and a Boogie, and thats easy for me because I know they are actually very diff amps and again, have their own place,,,I think I am no help at all on this(hahaha) and luckily its later in the evening so I will let the "vaporize" line slide by   one things for sure, all amps mentioned here will

Your logic is flawless.

You'll be happy with either, but the Diezel has a modern gain tone, the Mesa doesn't,depends what tone your looking for, however you won't lose money on the IIC+

I think this may depend on your definition of "modern gain tone" ?

Amps alone do not vaporize shit, players vaporize other players

I have listened to Danyeo for years and his several IIC+s and his best lead tones were always the Mesa but have also heward him rip it up on a herbert so I have to agree with what he is saying.

The IIC+ is a lead monster in the right hands and the VH4 clips I have heard from Alex from greece were always stupified.................................comes down to how they are being used.

Probably going to get flamed for saying this, and I have not heard one in person so i am taking that into consideration. I've heard some really heavy clips of the herbert and I just don't see what all the fuss is about over that head. Shit ton of gain and bass does not equal great tone too me. Does anyone else feel this way? The clips that most consider good sound like there's a quilt hanging over the cab. I guess my point is, I definitely think the VH4 is more up my alley but everyone has there own version of good tone. Just my take.

May the FLAMING ensue!!!!

You just have to ignore all the shit you read on the internet and play what you like. Just because groups of people on forums all hail a certain tone doesn't mean it's for you.

I've played a Herbert rather extensively, and while I agree that in most clips it sounds like there's a blanket over the cab in person it sounds phenomenal, especially ch2+. I can definitely see why some people would prefer the VH4 though.

Try playing on in person. Yeah, the Herbert has a lot of gain and bass on tap, but it also has these handy knobs that adjust those settings too.

I know this thread is getting off topic a tad... but to add something in FAVOR of the herbert... this is one of my favorite recorded guitar tones and it is a herbert. oh, and the video is HILARIOUS.

There are a lot of people that can use any gear they want and very few of them use a Herbert or any other Diezel. Most people are not into the sound. I think they are great and Peter makes great amps .... but they are not for a lot of people at all.

I would like to have a Herbert .... but there are a lot of other amps I rather have first.

Yeah i'd love to play one in person, but I live in a shithole. I've just realized after buying and selling countless amps that are really high gain, but super compressed, there just not what Im after. Many of these amps that would sound incredible alone, then outdone by an old marshall when playing live just made me realize thats not the tone I need. I think thats why I ordered a fortin to get a really high gain head that was still ultimately Marshall based with high mids and cut. Like I said though, everyone's ear for tone is subjective
