I’ve got 4 amps 3 guitars up for sale.
All high end. I just brush off the pests. Dont look back.
If some fucking schmuk going to ‘ruin my day’?
Then I better get another hobby. YMMV

The high end market is almost always a pain in the ass to sell. You get hit with unrealistic dreamers. I have made a lot of money in the middle as of late. Meaning profit and flipping.

What I find most frustrating is the "I will trade you these five shitty guitars and a practice amp for your ______ $2k item."

The analysis from my friend who owns a famous guitar store in Dallas thinks that all of the high end and boutique prices were previously driven by baby boomers and their extravagant spending. Now they are fixed income and increased expenses. As a result they have been dumping high end and vintage gear exceeding the demand at previous prices.

Exactly how I snagged my twin reverb for $400. FFS just the tubes were worth that. All original tubes. Original speakers, etc.

What really does amaze me that between fortin, Friedman and wizards go new and sell immediately or on waiting lists at $4-5k. I wonder what will happen with that in 20 years.

I have cheaper tastes than most of you, i will always stay in the $1-2k used amp range and cheaper. I am perfectly happy with that. That's just me. Again though I am much younger than a lot of you (29) so who knows. I am just happy to be debt free as my school loans are paid (although most was scholarships) and I own my house (modest) outright and have an investment property.

Back on topic, if you chose to sell something used you will get bullshit offers. Sometimes you will get great offers. If you don't want to deal with that, don't sell on a public forum or domain. Part of life. Period.

Funny thread...

Sellers want to high ball and buyers want to low ball. This is nothing new. What I find funny is the gear addicts constantly buying new and then trying to sell their now used gear at new prices. New is new, used is used.

My opinion:

- If you sell online, expect stupid people, it's the internet

- Don't be a gate keeper and set arbitrary regulation on people. This KILLS the interest at the low end, for example young people getting into music, they have to learn somehow, I was once one of them, so where you. Teach and guide them, don't get emotional.

- If someone is genuinely low-balling, ignore, simple. Just don't engage.

- I've found people screaming at me for making a mistake in posting an ad... has made me leave forums in the past. This is why forums die.

- Don't expect everyone else on earth to share your knowledge things.

- Finally, the market dictates prices, nothing else. Someones perceived value of an item means nothing in terms of the market.

This is what most people don't understand about commerce, the market will always set the price. No one cares what we paid for the item, it is not a relevant consideration when determining what you will get for it when it sells.

Freidman be-100 amps for example:
Used sold price for amps produced in the last 2 years - $2300 - $2800.
There are a lot of used BE 100 amps in the market right now, look at all the listings on ebay and reverb.
The closer the asking price is to $2800, the longer it will take to sell without lowering the price.

I'll tell what's worse, - accepting a low ball offer and then they refuse to pay!!!! I accepted an offer that was 40% my asking price and the douche said he change his mind> Douche bag.

I've accepted low-ball offers just to fuck with people, and same thing. They disappear. Most have no intentions of buying, they just do it to see what they can get away with.

Exactly... it's just like buying/selling cars. You can have cheap cars that hold value and expensive cars that don't. It's not the total sum of the parts you are paying for which some people fail to remember. The other issue is people finance everything these days out of impatience so they are angry they paid a new price for something that's lost all it's value, so when they try to sell it, they expect to be refunded!!!!

Just don't respond and delete the PM, done! That's what I do. Some things aren't worth my time so I ignore them. Life is too short to worry about it.
