Ok vid clip time for an amp brand nobody seems to talk about much... MORRIS

I still have the Morris but it’s on the block because of the MGL—side by side the MGL just sounds more like a Marshall but the Morris is a fantastic amp that beat out quite a few more expensive amps that used to be on the wall
Did you ever try the Sirrom?

This is a MORRIS 15 watt class A perplex'd E34L amp.

Marshally goodness. SD-1 clean boost for my ears sounds perfect for jcm800 tones. Really cool lil' guy.

I have yet to try a class a. I bet it is awesome

No, this is the only Morris I’ve ever seen in the wild and I’m really glad I bought it. I’d love to try a Perplexed. The one I have is actually serial #1

Currently the only amps I own are Morris amps. UK '67 and Sirrom. ^^^ That's me.

Does your 67 have the additional boost option? Did he tell you what it is? I figure a gain boost but the clips I’m hearing, including yours, if those amps don’t have it, I don’t need it.

It does. If I remember right what it does is basically jump you from whatever gain mode of the 3 you are on, automatically to the highest one. There is a little bit of a mid shift as well, but not something that rocks your world. And likely will go totally unnoticed unless playing alone. The main draw is moving you up in fluid feel.

I find I don't need it. most of my clips of the 67 are it in the highest gain mode, but with the gain right around noon. I think I had it plugged in (the footswitch for the boost) the first day or two I had it home, since then I've just left it unplugged.

That sounds incredible!
Thanks! I recommend anyone who has the opportunity to check out a Morris to do it. I understand its hard to take the plunge on an amp that you can't likely try in person, and that hasn't flooded the market with lots of clips and info. Having one person doing the handwiring, and the website, and the logisctics of the business doesn't leave a lot of time for flag waving.

I feel like my iPhone clips have become a marketing campaign for Morris. :p I always tell him, as soon as you think I'm doing a disservice let me know and I'll stop making videos and pull them.

That’s exactly what Glen told me a few days ago. Said it will not have much if any affect on Gain 3.

I’ve had my 67 for about a month now and haven’t even got off Gain 2 with the onboard boost engaged. I will say that I’ve packed away my pile of OD pedals. None of them do anything positive for the amp.

Glen just told me to try your settings on Gain 3 with gain at 9:00-12:00 without the boost. I’ll be doing that this weekend. Apparently, Gain 3 and Bright 3 have all the historical cap values.

So much tweaking without even mentioning the Bold/Vintage, mid shift, alt’rd, and Brown modes.

Absolutely. The amp is so simple, but has so many little tweaks. I also love that they aren't earth shattering changes, so you don't go from love to hate at the flick of a switch.

Mine is pre "altered", so I don't have that switch, and funny enough, with the "Brown Switch", the options being Brown/On I don't really know which is which, I just pick the one I like the feel of more and don't think about it anymore :p

I was the same. I had to ask him about that. But Brown on is switch down (“on”).

Altered has the least effect of all the switches. So I wouldn’t miss it

Amp sounds really good! The UK68 sound great in all the clips as well.

What speakers are we hearing is this clip?

Is the UK67/68 a traditional plexi topology with a PPIMV or does it have JCM800 style master volume in it? Just curious?

Just regular production greenbacks.

I believe that rather than just being a clone of say a Plexi or 800, it’s simply “inspired by”, and capturing that sound while being it’s own thing. No PPIMV.

I’m a little tempted to have him make me another that is just hardwired in the modes I like best, and maybe with 6L6s for a little more Fender-ish/Soldano-ish top end.

I have a UK68 and it is one of my all-time favorite amplifiers.

I’ve owned my fair share of M-type amps—clones, boutiques, you name it.

I’ve had great experiences with lots of builders. (So many options these days!)

If you’re chasing that 68 Super Lead plexi tone—with an fx loop and killer MV—the UK68 is it. In a class of its own. Actually, the Metroplex MKII is right there too.

Glen’s amps definitely have that extra “something” imho.

I've heard that video several times because it keeps drawing me back. I need to get a Duncan SH-5 or TB-5 again. Killer demo!

What pickups are you using in this Strat demo? Also, what kind of Strat?

That Strat has EMG Retroactive 60s pickups. Just a Partscaster. I’m actually going to be stealing that neck for another project as soon as I have some time to actually rip it apart. Haha

I tried to look up those pickups and the only 2 sets make for Strats are the Classic and the Maverick. Do you remember which set you bought? I love the tones you're getting.

The loaded pickguard is called the "RA-2 Pro" on the EMG website.
