not bad, nothing particularly exciting either though.

Nice amp but I gotta agree about the importance of presence. Sorta weird, I never seen an tube amp without one.

I thought it sounded pretty heavy and sounded pretty good doin it, but the no presence is kinda strange cause it has a focus switch in the back like a fixed depth mod. Ola said a few times he wished it had a presence to dial up some bite to the tone. I bet it would sound even better if you dial in some brite bite to balance the chunk of the amp low to low mid punch.

I'm surprised the heavey chuga chuga guys haven't commented on it. I think it chugs...............

I have one of these, its a really great sounding amp. I think its unfortunate that they ship the amp with JJ 6L6s which IMO do not do the amp justice because yes its a bit of a dark amp that benefits more from TAD 6L6 / Chinese 6L6s / or Sovtek 6L6s over the JJs. After I changed the power tubes I was not wishing it had a presence control. The JJ 6L6s are very dark and smooth, they work in certain amps but not this one so much.

With that being said its a very versatile amp with a great clean tone ... Does a very good break up crunchy tone as well as modern high gain. 100watt in a small package, good amp to grab and go for a live situation.

Sounded pretty good to me but like I always say... clips are clips.

Good to hear first hand accounts  Can it thump pretty hard on the low end and punch in mids? Does it lie in the FB100 camp in terms of being darker/low mids dominant?

It probably does not have as much low-end as the FB100, Ive owned that amp in the past. Its not as dark but pretty close, way better cleans and crunch on the Kraken. Kraken has a nice present midrange that sits very well in a live situation.

 Sounds like a cool amp.

Really want to try the Super Kraken. Played the 50 watt Kraken a few years ago at the music zoo and dug it. The accompanying vertical 2x12 threw out some great bottom end too, sounded yuuuuge.
