I'm glad you got one and are posting your thoughts and videos. I feel the demos released of the Kemper up until now didn't really feature any super metal crunch tones in the hands of someone who can play it as well as you can. I'm happy to see the Kemper seems to be delivering the tones and response needed for metal.
This is an awesome machine. . . and I think it looks very cool too.

give us knobs for every parameter ( gain & EQ) on the front, so we can easy tweak our sounds in realtime,
but a certain way that indicates the controlles after a preset change (via LCD or LED)!

Id be willing to bet that there's not much they can do. This comes right from the same angle of not being able to pattent a circuit. If there was a liability both Peavey and Mesa would have been sued from Mike Soldano. I guess legally all they would have to do is use the usual disclaimer that they are not affiliated with (insert Amp company here)Audioholic":2r2cf1au said:Really makes me wonder the legality of this product, and just how long it will take certain amp manufacturers to try to sue. I mean Kemper is not just saying this sounds like a recto based patch, they are straight out saying, this IS a recto. HA I mean they are not copying the circuitry but I could see a lawyer arguing that they are indeed copying the sonic result of the amps and using such names and likeness to sell their product. I surely hope not. This is all new territory of course, but leave it to the lawyers to jump in

The whole Modeling thing is a slippery slope. It's sort of like when you eat Artificial flavors lol
I think Kemper is going to make a bundle on this.![]()
It's all wording. Even on the Axe it might say energyball but it wil clearly say elsware that it was based on an Engl Powerball. Then you have the mighty **** next to the print where they saythey have no affiliation. I guess by using the Word PROFILE they are covered. I'm pretty sure that they looked into all this stuff before they went to market or at least I hope they didAudioholic":2sj4xedv said:Gainfreak":2sj4xedv said:Id be willing to bet that there's not much they can do. Right, but even in the Axe, you are not seeing Deizel patches, Mesa Patches, they are renamed, but close enough so you can get an darn good idea what Cliff was using as the sound source to mimick. Kemper flat out says here is a Mesa Roadking Profile. yes they have they are not affiliated with said companies, but still, there is no hiding what amp they took the sample from..
Audioholic":3thtsmsb said:Shark Diver":3thtsmsb said:I wonder how much of a player's technic comes through in the profiling? It would seem to be a big factor in what the Kempler is "hearing".
I may be wrong, but It runs Tones through the amp, white noise and such to pick up all the frequencies and what not, and I am sure that is by far the biggest contributor to the sound, without even playing through it. Great idea, much like IR reverbs are to mimicking real spaces. awesome idea. I love the Axe, and have yet to play a II, I am on the waiting list, but lately I have been less about efx and more about the amps tone, which is why I have been micing up my amps instead of going direct lately. If the kemper can give me that core sound better, as well as offer some desirable real amps, I am pretty sold... The Axe will continue to improve and cliff will be banging out code that will be amazing no less. But one thing I did not like about the Axe updates was that everytime there was an update, it changed your patches sound, and there was constant tweaking involved...

That's what I thought as well. I was a bit sceptic about the higain amp profiling since they only profiled boutique amps etc.
Well I'm convinced now![]()
