So I was in my local pawn shop about 15 years ago-ish and I spotted an Ibanez that had the Frank Gambale or Jennifer Batten body (I guess 540 saber? ). Anyway it was definitely road worn but cheap and played well with good life left in the frets and fretboard. Definite shredder. Based on the serial I think it dates 1992 from Japanese Fujigen factory. (F233127). I bought it for 400 bucks with a hard case. I recall the owner having to go to prison for a bit for selling guns and meth so maybe they were trying to raise money. Idk and didn’t care. I brought the guitar to my local luthier created a new face for it because the wood looked like it had been used as a drum pad. I took a picture of the wood on the back to show what the original look was. I had him turn it into the 80s zebra print look- ala my decade of decadence. So I was thinking about the guitar lately and pulled it off the wall today, as it had been dormant for maybe 10 years, idly “watching” as all the others get their love. Dammit it plays so well. It’s like having a new guitar again.
