Ordered some Graph Tech saddles for the Suhr... Opinions?

I was breaking high E strings like a mofo (three broken strings in one week). I tried filing down the saddle but it didn't seem to help any, and may have made it worse.

Anyone else who switched to the GT saddles notice big tone changes (for better or worse). I know they claim more sustain, but my only worry is that they'll sound like ass :D Everything I've read seems to indicate they do reduce string breakage, so I'll be a happy panda if that is in fact the case.

Also, does anyone know the proper way of filing a burr out of a saddle (tools, technique, etc)?

If you ordered the regular ones, cancel them or return them and order their ferroglide saddle models instead. THOSE are the ones you want in your Suhr. I ordered them for my custom Anderson.

I thought the Ferroglide ones were supposed to be craptacular? How did they affect the tone in your Anderson vs. the stock saddles?

Anyway, I already got a shipping quote from MF, so I'll probably try them out for a week or so and send them back if they suck (it's not like I sank a lot of money into them, they were only $40).

thats not a bad price at all considering the floyd upgrade's titanium saddles... a mere $400+ :scared:

With Ferroglides, there is basically no tonal change. With the full graphite saddles there is a change in the mids.

Got it. I'll give 'em a whirl and see what happens. I have no qualms doing an exchange if they blow :D

What sort of change does the full graphite saddle do to the mids?

To me, the tone of the regular GT saddles was too "acoustic"-y and soft, if that makes any sense. If I'm playing an electric guitar, I WANT the saddles to feel and sound steely, to a certain extent.

That being said... I barely broke ANY strings with them. So they absolutely DO do what they claim.

$40 aint bad, try em and see for yourself.

I have the ferro glides on 2 of my strats, both I noticed a slight increase in sustain. Never had a string break with them. I think they were worth it....

I used to sell their graphite Strat saddles and I've used them on a bunch of guitars. They do change your tone. I don't know that I would call it better or worse, but they seem a little less bright with a softer high end. As noted though, they do what they claim, solving broken strings for a lot of players.

$400? Man I would have them already if they were only $400. They are twice that.http://floydupgrades.com/index.php?main ... 9bi5b63q43

Was this with the original or ferraglide saddles?

I've installed the Ferraglides on about 15 or 20 customers guitars that had breakage problems...never had any complaints about a drastic change in tone. I think they may soften the attack by maybe like 2% and that's about it. They definitely do eliminate string breakage at the bridge and work very well.
