Hey man, that's a great post.

Thanks for volunteering to serve our country. Yesterday, indecision; today, a hero.

Welcome to the military family man  Former E6 Electronics Tech Navy.

DO NOT TAKE ANY SCHOOL THAT DEALS WITH WEAPONS.....unless it is the electronics side. You wont find a job in the outside world.

Do not volunteer for ANYTHING in boot camp.

Get running now.

Congrats man

Good job bro !

I thank you and wish you the best of luck !

great stuff man! it's never too late to get the life back in track and do something you wanted to. Life's short you gotta use it wisely

I'd love to be a pilot.... :D

Congrats. Could you get into a career in piloting or air traffic control when you're done? I knew someone who works for Continental and it sounded like a great career.

:salute: Want to join the Air Force, but I gotta lose this extra 30 pounds and finish college.

 Very cool man. Worked in the wing in the Marines. You will love it! Thanks for serving!

I think it would be easier for me to be a civilian pilot (my eyes are way too bad for piloting in the Air Force), definitely air traffic control. I know for a fact that if I go into F-16 Crew Chief I'll get to have a ride!!

 Go for it man, weight is the only problem. They want you to look REAL good in the uniform. Only things I can say is, study and if you can afford eye surgery, get it. Practice depth perception, and color tests for your eyes. I nearly failed my color test, and believe it or not that small test was the difference between getting a good job or not. This is similar to what they did for me on the test http://www.toledo-bend.com/colorblind/Ishihara.asp http://colorvisiontesting.com/online%20test.htm

Thanks for all the support guys, I can't wait to just get started already! :salute:

Congrats!

and thanks for volunteering!

I've done projects for various DoD areas. Currently working on efforts for DISA and USMC.

Tactical Air Command and Control = http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/usaf/tacp.htm you're on the ground with the Army units directing close air support.

Here's a good link that lists USAF Enlisted Job Categories:
General Category, Administrative Category, Mechanical and Electric/Electronic

Your ASVAB score will indicate which you are eligible for, your recruiter gave you a few, there may be more. Worth making sure you look at the options available and of interest to you: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforceenlistedjobs/a/afjobcategory.htm

Here's the official page: http://www.airforce.com/opportunities/enlisted/careers/

Thanks! :salute:

There are more opertunities in the AF other than planes you know.

Computer networks
Anti cyber attack / security
comminications

YOu will run into a ton of venders that you can network with if you decide to get out,

Cisco
Juniper
AT&T
Verizon

MAke sure the recruiter is not directing you into something that he wants to score, they do have quotas. Also ask what training has enlistment bonuses if you graduate or an advance in rank.

Like he will have a choice.  :hys:

Just remember when you start to say "what the F%^$ did I do" , think of the end result you are looking for. Many years ago I enlisted in the MARINES for 3 years. Thought I would do the 3 and then leave. Ended up staying for 24 years and have no regrets.

Congrats.

Our CC asked who knew about guns and every redneck raised their hands....

They volunteered to oil and maintain 80 dud M-1s for he entire 9 weeks

Congrats and thanks for serving and to those that have served. Good for you. You sound like you got your shit down and know what you want. Good for you bro and God bless  .
