Ozzy /Randy final 8

I would take live tribute version of Suicide Solution over the record 100 times. The vocals on the record sound tired, raspy like he's losing his voice. You can hear his voice Crack in "take me away.." like did they really think that was a good take?
Exactly. I don't care if the Tribute vocals are overdubbed, they fucking rock. And Randy's Suicide Solution solo DESTROYS Eruption.

I'm not sure that I would say it destroys eruption. I'd say their neck and neck. But I think Randy should've made his solo it's own seperate track. It would've made him larger than he already was. Same thing with Yngwie and his intro to Hot On Your Heels....he should've made that it's own track the same way Eruption is it's own track.

He did a solo during the Blizzard Of Ozz sessions. Not sure if it was intended for the album then they decided to not include it, but it was included on the 2010 Blizzard of Ozz reissue

Whoa I have not heard this before I will listen to it when I get home from work.

Diary Intervention!

Now that that's out of the way, let me explain...

Sorry Tech, I just can't abide by such strict rules considering that Diary is the superior album. The best I can do is a 2/6 split, substituting my two BOOZ favorites and taking off the two weakest DOAMM tracks.

1) Over the Mountain
2) Flying High Again
3) You can't kill R&R
4) Believer
5) I don't know
6) Mr. Crowley (I almost put Crazy Train instead. Sure it's overplayed to death but it's such a great song)
7) SATO
8) Diary of a Madman

Divisive Little Dolls/Tonight Exclusion!

In case you didn't know (and not that it really matters), besides the vocals being overdubbed, Randy's solo spot is not the one that was performed at that particular show. It was taken from a concert from Montreal that was aired on The King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show. (I recorded the original broadcast in the 80's and still have it on cassette....I think). The obvious signs are the brief pauses at the very beginning and end of the solo and Randy's guitar suddenly being tuned down half a step (Tribute's version of Suicide Solution is in standard tuning, while it's a half step down at the Montreal show).

Here's the solo from the original Montreal show:

,

Montreal and Cleveland are great shows . I think the band played better at Montreal but I heard Ozzy didn’t care for his vocals and chose to use the Cleveland show . In the long run it didn’t matter as they overdubbed his vocals. I go to those two shows way more than Tribute when I want to listen to some live Ozzy and Randy . The bonus live ‘81 disc included in the DOAM 2011 remaster is killer also

I heard something about that but didn't know the details. Thanks man. As you said, not that it really matters. A lot of bands even use sections of songs from different shows to make a live album. No big deal to me.
