Ordered the TD-Y v2 for Tube Driver alike tones. I presume it should be very similar to Buffalo FX TD-X which is out of production these days.

Don't own any PastFx pedals, but they've definitely been on my radar. Have read a lot of positives about them (seems like they get a lot of high marks for build quality and customer service). Not a huge flanger user, but have been considering ordering their Electric Mistress clone for some time. I'm sure you're already aware of this, but there's are a lot of PastFx threads over at TGP.

Checked some comments from TGP and there were quite nice comments about this pedal.

I have Chorus Ensemble mini and it is amazing. I use it before preamp, mono. Very lush, wide and fat. Works great even with distortion. I have Boss CE-2w but it is not as wide and more 'bouncing' in CE-1 mode.
Only issue is non bypassable preamp in mini version, but I have Gigrig G2.

I have the Hot for Flanger, nails the EVH/Gray Box MXR flanger tone. Fantastic pedal. I still intend to buy their Mistress copy one day.

Which is why I constantly wonder, if PastFX can put everything in "small box" flanger, why can't MXR. Head scratching.

Note, most of there stuff runs at 18v.

I much prefer phaser to flanger, but even I want the Griffin Analog Mistress pedal on looks alone.

That thing loos amazing. It's a high quality Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress clone.

I’ve got the TD-Y, Patriarch and Mischief, there’s a couple more I want to get as well to round out the Gilmour pedals.

I never tried the Buffalo version but Patriarch is a Buffalo recreation and works exactly as advertised. The TD-Y is great, it’s subtle but if you got one it’s likely you have a specific need for it. I’m still going to grab a legit Tube Driver, especially since BK is selling them himself on Reverb, but the TD-Y is definitely a much more pedalboard friendly design.

Gilmour’s use of the Tube Driver is why I wanted it, I’d been trying for weeks to get in the ballpark of some of his Division Bell tones and it wasn’t happening, but I got the TD-Y, slapped it on a Bassman model and got this-

I think I may have used it here as well.

I need to try it in front of a dimed Plexi like EJ next.

Sounded great and nice playing! Did not Gilmour use Ram’s head big muff together with the TD or so?

Yep, in ‘94 and maybe some of his tours in the 00’s for his main lead tone. That’s when the Tube Drivers first started showing up in live rigs, before that it was a TC Booster/Line Driver. Once the 00’s rolled around he used less of the Big Muff and the Tube Drivers took over, the last tour he had 3 of them in different gain stages.

Trivia- that one Ram’s Head has been the exact same one since he started using it.

Not yet, but I should definitely give the Patriarch and TD-Y a shot together, the Patriarch is a Civil War clone meant to mimic Gilmour’s ‘94 Muff tones, which is right when he started stacking them with Tube Drivers. I’m not even sure why I hadn’t thought of that yet!

Give Us a shout after You’ve tested that combo! 😎
